I didn't see any window stickers so I didn't want to assume it was one of the new ones.

Why? the 03 and 04 evo's had the 9.8 hotside instead of the 10.5, the only older evo that I would buy is an 05 evo 8, plus the 9's make great power on the stock turbo. So I'm not sure why you would say that...

That's one of the most miniscule differences between the cars. You can easily throw a 9 turbo on an 8. I hope that's not your only reasoning for buying a newer evo.

The big weakness to the MR is the transmission.

Some people might not want to go through the hassle of finding a used one, installing it and worrying about the warranty. Obviously the likely buyer for this car may take the preservation of the factory warranty into consideration.

that price is higher than the MSRP was when these were brand new. MSRP was 36,894. EVO X MR's are selling for 1000-1500 less than those, and they are 4 years old now. Seems like a rip off if you ask me...

law of supply and demand plus the "iconic" 4G63 and CT9A to boot.

IF I had a LOT of money, I'd buy one and keep it in my garage :-) Always wanted an IX MR.
