Which turbo install to do
Which turbo install to do
Hey guys whats up ( damn it's been a while sense i did a post on here) anyways guys i've kinda been doin some research n talking with a few people... I want to turbo my car unfortantlly i don't have all the funds to go with rrm as much as i would like to... So i was thinking of either investing in a 14 B or 16 G and goin from there i have a guy out here in jerze that can make me the piping an do the manifold but now i'm pondering what else will i need cause i am catching a lot of heat from some of the guys i work with telling me i'm gonna blow my engine n they haven't heard of anyone turbo charging a lancer blah blah blah don't worry though I stick up for us Lancer owners lol or at least try to so anyway i've read through the links that have been posted n so on an so forth and all i've really came up with was (injectors,FPR,a FMU like the vortech and either AFC or E-Manage along with new plugs n wires .... I've also been doing alot of speaking with one of techs at the dealership i work for he knows a lil bit about mitsus he's the one kinda leanin me more towards doin the custom install... He told me i could get the injectors out of a 1st Gen eclipse an the same with a fuel rail he also claims i will need to upgrade my fuel pump as well (well at least these are the upgrades his friend with a lancer did when he turbo'd) so basiclly i'm just lookin for some feedback something to point me in the right direction you know cause form what i've read through on here it seems as if turbo installs differ in the means of what one persons setup needs aposed to another persons setup. Not that i'm trying to lean away from RRM's setup cause Rob i love u guys, u've never sent me in the wrong direction thus far it's just times are a lil rough right now.so if someone could give me some insight i'd b very thankfull Lord knows i'll prolly just end going with RRM LOL Sell my body or something hmm anyone wanna buy a kidney hahaha anyways thanx in advance guys...
P.S. About the Fuel pump i don't understand i haven't heard of anyone having to change 1 nor a fuel rail maybe it's better to b safe then sorry?

everyone is too busy talking about the Evo...lol..long gone are the days of "hey guys, can we swap a Evo engine into my OZ lancer"discussions, or, as is the case here, discussions about turbocharged US spec Lancers.
There are handful of members that have already turbocharged their lancers, wether with Rock (RRM) or by themselves. You should try and ask them, not sure what their exact names are but if i recall, i think one of them is Link and the other Liquidlancer....i may be wrong...look around.

bumps i am planning on the same thing, and to my knowledge the rrm kit did not use any kind of fpr or injectors other that all stock internals.....im in the same position as u are.....im thinking about calling rob and asking if i could buy their turbo manifold and all piping to make it a bit easier and lighter on the pocket, and also ask him aboiut the 1g injectors. I have a set of the 450cc injectors, but 1g's are low impeadence and i need to know if the 4g94's are low impeadence as well. i also have an afc controler to help me out as far as a engine managment system, and a really good nissian tech friend that just got done with his s14 180 black top motor swap. so if you find n e thing out (or vise versa) hit me up i hav AIM and s/n is DSMTUNER82 or pm me here later

Those turbos listed might be to small. The 16G is found on stock Eclipses 1/2G's so getting one should be relatively easy. It'll spool quick no doubt but may leave you lacking with high end. Biggest I've seen proposed is a T3. Where are those handy turbo/boost maps when you need 'em.
Trending Topics
The T3 requires moving the radiator and/or parts of the cooling system according to David Thomas of RPW I believe (Or maybe it was Matt or Shaun from VI). If you will it though (and have a little scratch to back it up), it can happen.
EDIT: The reason I'd do custom is because I think the RRM has a couple shortcuts (i.e. stressing the injectors and return pipe instead of a proper manifold) and the RPW is thorough, but a bit much in some areas (Haltech ECU for one would be too much for me to program/tune/or handle in general).
The fuel system upgrades are EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. Make sure you take care to do that part right especially.

Drama Again
Hey guys l haha lots of replies thats nice to see (DJPhatroc) i'll hit you up on aim one of these days my aim name is DJINFILTRATES ... but anyway ya so i caught a lil more drama today with work of turboing my car more or less they where yellin cause it's my daily driver an to be honest i can understand where they are coming from but still thats my car an i'm sure a lot of other people would agree with we love our cars and we wanna make them better n blah blah blah to make a long story short it's just fun to see our cars go from nothing to having something... My boss said to me "you kids think you can just turbo an call it a day" lol then began asking me how much due i even think i can get out of that lil 4 banger 2.0 liter stuck up for us though and threw some numbers at him he kinda shut up after that lol but it was quickly dismissed once the talks about how long do you think the pistons an other engine componets are going to hold up ... they must think i'm planning on running some serious boost or something..... Hey Rob I think i should fly you out to jerze with the turbo kit in hand LOL install it n take my boss for a ride Maybe you can set these american muscle lovers straight better then i can...
I'm goin to start saving once i get my damn brakes done i need to order those kevlar ones! Oh 1 more thing does anyone know if the RRM Grills will bolt up to the shark racing GT kit? personally i don't see why not but i just want to be sure cause i have the kit sitting at work just waiting for me to but it..

You don't have to run the Haltech with the RPW turbo kits. You can run something like teh Greddy E manage, unichip or Apexi units. That is what we recomend for above the 10 psi boost levels but it is always your choice.
The haltech is optional not necessary.

Yeah, I'm trying to talk to VI about parting one of your kits right now actually. Hoping Matt and Shaun will help me out. Got a custom install I wanna get done and I definetly wanna use your manifold and some other parts. Hopefully they get back to me with a favorable response.
