I searched but couldn't find the thread regarding this topic. A while back a few guys were asking about running the vacuum line from the BOV directly to the turbo. What are the benefits if any and are you guys still running this way?

 

i think this just lets the vaccum source come directly from the tubo itself, rather than taking it from the intake manifold where some pressure may be lost. In my opinion, I would just use the intake manifold source since whatever the intake manifold is seeing it whatever the motor is seeing. also, the bov is releasing air coming back from the intake mani / throttle body, not from the turbo itself, so id rather have a pressure feedback being measured from the source of the released air.

 

OK, here's another question... Look at the way Prototypemike has his vacuum line on his type S (the black piping), then notice the way RRM does it. Mike has his vacuum line attached directly to the BOV where RRM attaches theres to the intercooler piping side of the BOV. Which is the correct way to do it?

 

ok i think that those are both done the same way, it just looks like there is a line running from the polished part of the RRM picture. They are both running a line out of the bell part. i checked out pics on mine and i ran it out of the top also, and the little tube that is coming out of the polished part of the valve is left open. regaurdless, yous houdl attach a line to tube coming out of the purple bell, and leave the little tiny polished tube open. that line from the purple part should be tapped into the intake manifold in the same spot as a boost gauge / fmu

No.... hot shot do you have a pic? The FLANGE on my kit has a nipple on it. So basically the vacuum line is on the other side of the BOV... If you look real close at the pic on the left, which is a pic of my Type S, you can see the vacuum is attached to a nipple tapped into the flange. Which makes absolutely no sense to me... I never received a piece to attach a vacuum line to the purple part of the BOV. I ordered the BOV directly from RRM and the flange came pre-tapped.

 

This is probably why my BOV sounds like $hit... I need to find somewhere to get that piece that screws into the purple part...

 

ohhh ****, that could be a slight problem...

 

i dont' think there was any sort of tap on my flange, thats kinda wierd, you have to tap the very top tube on the purple bell part, and that should be all, i'll try to get some pictures up here in a few.

 

That's the way mine came from RRM. I don't need a pic. I know my BOV setup is messed up. WTF?

 

1 = untapped, leave it open

2 = run line from this point to the point that you measure vac / boost from intake manifold (same place as boost gauge / fmu)

 

ok, after looking at your picture again i see that you have a red line goign from this retarded nipple to the intake manifold, right? that is very wrong and it shouldn't be like that. just have the line from point 2 on my picture, all others left open.

 

Yeah but I don't have a nipple there, just a big threaded hole. I will have to dig around, but I don't think I was ever given that, and I KNOW I didn't tap the flange. I'm pissed right now...

 

yeah that number 2 nipple should have come with all that **** that was packed up in the greddy box. check around for that and you should be golden.

 

My box was opened, the flange was already installed... GRRRR...
