[QUOTE=HobieKopek]Ok, so nothing new for me. For some strange reason my fuel is still acting funny under boost. My car is down at TurboTrix and I'm confident they'll fix it one way or another, but I felt like starting this thread for a brainstorming session.

I have a clear mechanical problem...an on and off tapping/clicking/clacking sound from my head. I'm sure they'll have no problem finding/fixing that. Here's the kicker though.

sounds like your hydrolic lash adjusters (lifters) are starting to go bad. they're real easy to swap out and they're about 15 bucks a piece last i checked. just make sure you change out all of them at the same time. once you pull them out you can look at the ends of them and see wich ones were sticking. good luck.

Well, it's a used head so that could very well be it. It's in TTR's hands. I'm sure they'll take good care of it. It's the ongoing fuel thing that really worries me.

Are you sure it is not tuning related, instead of mechanically related? Esp. with full EMS, you might not be getting fuel at the required time. Were you tuned by an AEM tech?

I will have to consult with the mechanical genius who knows everything aka Vatnum....

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's not just a tuning issue. Mark's bonafied. It's not like the problem is new either. It's similar to the one I've been having ever since 1. the screwed up alarm install ****ed my electrical system (although the problems didn't all appear right away) and 2. the car's been boosted.

did you ever test your voltage at the pump during WOT?

16,800 or so. Doubt it's the fuel filter as it's only seen about 3-6k miles. Could be the pump though. I let Mark know and he's gonna check it out.

No, I didn't get to check the voltage because I don't have the car and the mechanical problem (Mark and his machine shop guy are thinking rod bushing because the valvetrain's fine) is keeping the car from being tuned right now.

NO NO NO ALL WRONG!!!! the i gauntee the voltage to the pump is fine. i experiment w/ 3 diff fuel pumps and notice a lot of diffrecnes. go out and but a new fuel pump. im 99.9% sure that is ur problem. somehow u over worked the fuel pump be a bad FMU or FPR. if ur FMU is bad....its not sending all the fuel its getting (duh) thus clogging the "fuel lines" and making ur pump work soo hard it dies. cause when i changed my FMU car worked fine....fuel pump went bad i belive cause it was working soooo hard to force fuel though the FMU and when i fixed it then pump was on it last leg for working the way it was supposed to...i belvive cause the FMU wasent sending the fuel it was requesting. when i tryed swapping a old fuel pump...it was clogged to **** and would fuel cut when revving motor. so i bought a new one and WAMMY!! everything works. BUT I pretty sure ur pump is getting more than 12V! (rember me testing mine)

I have lots of electrical problems. If I didn't, I would probably agree with you. It's more likely that the pump itself is bad than anything else, but the clicking sound my engine was making means no other troubleshooting can really be done at the moment anyway. Once they figure that out they'll put it back on the dyno, and try to diagnose again.

Quote: You stil lget your Wally whine, right? I have never heard of anyone have a Walbro fail, but I figured that they are so loud, that you can probably hear when they have failed. If you think it is the Wally, check around dsm boards and try to grab a 2G fuel pump. I had gotten wone a couple years back for 15 bucks shipped. Should be a relatively inexpensive way to double check and make sure it is not the pump.

What impedance are your injectors?

i've personally had about 3-4 bad walbro's, I'll check the voltage, but the least of our problems right now..

fuel pump gone bad! I was reading this tread , I found it by searching the same symptoms. Only I found my self asking the same question Sat. night after installing an Hks 272/280 cam & cam gears....Fidanzas set up, 680 injecs., A custom carbon cold air intake box, an Hks Twin fire Ignition, and a 2.5 lower intercooler pipe MR Ron from 4G63HP.com made. An Perrin fuel rail.
I had to go to Jacksonville, from Orlando that morning, Sat, for the big DSM meet. Was done with install for a nap at 3AM. Woke @ 7:30 to meet up with some sothern evos. Headed out for 95 North.
Car ran like dookie all the way there.. No top end at afr's 12.2s
Getting a fuel pressure gauge tomorrow!
Was going lean, Safc cranked! Was pissed. Couldnt play with bout 20 Evo's.
Went back to titan today, bout another 255 Wally... Hope its the pump.!

I never posted the solution...turns out the pump was ok, but there was an O-ring that wasn't sitting properly. Preciate the post though.
