theory question...

if i were to buy a boost gauge and leave it sitting on the passenger seat of my car, would it be enough motivation to piece together the rest of a turbo?

i'm going to use AZN's list as a template for making my purchases between now and next march. the only things i could come up with that would be of even minimal use if hooked up were the gauges and the fuel pump. everything else is an all or nothing install, correct?

i have actually found people who are knowledgable in turbo installs to help me in real life so you don't have to hear me ***** everyday on here.

How about buy a turbo, not the kit, just the turbo. It's not expensive and the look of it will motivate you to buy the whole kit and install it.

ya know, that might be a better idea. guess i should read up on the "this turbo" vs. "that turbo" threads. i'm thinking t25 because it seems to be a popular choice. who knows what i'll come up with though.

EDIT: this thread can be deleted. i know it's worthless.

buy the turbo, and then order the turbo exhaust manifold for it, that should be plenty of motivation, especially when you get that giant package deleivered to your door.

T28 or T3 if you're feeling bolt. T25 hits boost VERY early and peaks early too.

Make sure you get a T3 from a Saab because the spool time on them are super great!

I'd go for a larger compressor personally. I prefer having spool ar 2,500-3,000rpms so that it's possible to drive out of boost when you don't want to guzzle fuel. Similarly, a larger compressor (such as the T3 Super 60 like I'm using) will allow for higher peak boost numbers and won't start to peter out around redline.
