First off, buying something that you know nothing about just cause it's a good deal will get you in a lot of trouble.
Considering you have already admitted that you know nothing about superchargers ( ) I would also advice you call up RIPPS and see what they recommend. At the moment from what little experience I have with superchargers it looks like you need some type of fuel upgrade (ie. pump, FMU, injectors, etc.), piping, pulley, belts, and I would assume other small things (as well as an intercooler/alky/water injection depending on how far you plan on going with this).

I may be totally off, but I would start by searching the web on the Cobalt SS to see what basic setup they are running with their supercharges. This may at least give you an idea of what you're going to need. I know the Chevy is nothing like the Mitsu...I'm just saying that it may be a decent place to start.

You're a little vulnerable to getting screwed since you know nothing about supercharges. It will be the **** once you have it set up. Good luck.

yeah, he's got a point copy a system design off another sc 4 cyl and modify by trial and error, im sure with a stand alone or SAFC neo, fuel pump, injectors, etc. anything is possible, i was very interested in doing this myself for a while, but couldnt find a way to mount it with out cutting my hood, its no small task mounting a super charger low enough so that it fits just right. keep us posted

Honestly, I believe you'd be before off selling it... Pocket the ROI and save it for a turbo kit.

Save your-self the trouble and sell that thing.
Is there even enough room under the hood to to fit it?

If you want to go through with this...
Find a way to turn the pulley, get the air to the tb, and take care of your fuel.

you'll need atleast the following to maybe get it to work
fuel pump
injectors
safc or equiveleant
intake plumbing
custom brackets to mount it
water to air intercooler
heat exchanger
set up the belt drive
and fabrication skills

imo.. sell it and buy something else thats actually for the car.

if you do attempt it. Good luck.

Yeah first place to start would still be by calling or emailing Ripp Mods so they can tell you if this is even possible (worth wise). Then, if it is and won't cost a million dollars, just start figuring out a way to get it in there. Also, figuring out how a supercharger works and what is required to make it work would save you the trouble of just going to a shop and saying "I want this in my car." Good luck with it. It would be cool to see something different.

if you can find a place under the hood to mount it and still close the hood, id be surprized, not sure how thiick that thing is but doesnt look too small. maybe with an eclipse hood hump molded in , but that would look odd on our car. either way your in for a long road of fabricating and tuning

You should've taken a lucky guess on a turbo lol. At least that way could be dome cheaply. I don't know if that thing will fit in our engine bay bro

Now, here's the problem: I don't know anything about it, or even superchargers in general. It is marked Ogura Clutch, Model TX28G. I know the manufacturer has discontinued it. What I'd like to know is:

1.) Can I use this in my 03 OZ?
2.) If so, what other parts will I need?
3.) Besides those parts, what other factors do I need to consider?
4.) What am I looking at, costwise, for installation.

I'm not interested in the debate between turbo and superchargers, I know all the arguments. But like I said, it was a really good deal, and I couldn't passit up. Worse case scenario is I'm out the money, which isn't so bad. So I need some help. Any advice is appreciated. If you need pics, or other information about it, let me know. Thanks
Great Score!!!
I would call Ripp and plan to get it put in.

2.) For those asking about cost, consider this: I paid less than a piggyback or an intercooler. AND I figure since it's new, if I can't use it, I'll sell it to someone who can, no big deal.

EVOfunk, I said i would be out of the money, not out of money.

3.) Crypto, Not a bad idea about going to RIPP, they installed an SC in my buddy's Camry a few years back

Here's some pics:
you would need a centrifugal blower thats a roots type blower if you could somehow fab a manifold for that to our head it would work great but. i can say with almost absolute certainty that you will not be able to find a manifold aftermarket, so you will need to make your own. you will not be able to intercool with that just like the old 6/71's but you can use nitrous.

To my knowledge, RIPP deals with centrifugal supercharers, not positive displacement units. They might be able to give you some pointers, but I'm not sure if they'd be able to help with the install. I'm embarking on a similar endeavor myself. I have an 03 Eclipse with the 4G64 engine. I'm in the process of designing an intake manifold which will serve for mounting an Eaton 4th gen SC (and obviously route the pressurized air into the head). I don't know much about that particular company, but I'm somewhat familiar with the Eaton units, and even more so with the ones offered for American V-8s (such as from Weiand, BDS, etc.). Personnaly, I'll take supercharging anyday of the week and twice on tuesday over turbocharging, but it suits me better. They both have their advantages and disadvantages...you just have to decide which is best for you. One of the big downfalls to supercharging our 4cyl Mistu's is the lack of aftermarket support. Turbocharging is much easier and has a bigger following. If you need any input or advice, message me and I'll pass on any info I can.
