stock ignition timing?
I'm currently running megasquirt to control fuel only. I have it running well w/ steady afr's and a good idle w/ 550cc evo injectors. However at this point I'm not running any spark control. I'm waiting on my 36-1 trigger wheel so I can rig up an EDIS4 ignition.
I was wondering what the stock ignition maps look like, and if they are safe to run boost with. I'm running 5 psi intercooled at the moment, hope to bump it up to 9psi for the track. Is 9psi possible on stock ignition timing? Anyone have a stock map?

Heard of success and horror stories about Megasquirt, but good to see it's running alright. For 9 psi, that'd be streching it... probably 7 might be okay. What most turbo'd Honda owner tend to say that .7 degrees for lb of boost of a good/safe number.
Best of luck!

Maybe you will findyour info in this thread:

In the first post, you will see the timming and AFR table of the stock lancer ECU, it's extract with Ecuflash.
It's extract from a 03 btw.

^^ Those are my ignition maps I'm currently running 7.5 PSI with some slightly modified ignition maps and so far so good. I'll be heading down to Ohio next week or so to get a full professional dyno tune. It will be interesting to see how he adjusts everything. I'll be aiming for 10-11 PSI with some safe AFRs and timing.

thank you very much. I was aware of that thread but I was unsure if those maps had already been altered.
So if I understand this correctly, the stock igniton map is the low octane map?

Both the High and Low Octane maps are the stock maps. We have the set as a safety feature. You normally are running on the high octane maps but say you got a bad batch of gas or something or its really hot out or whatever you start getting some knock, the car will then drop to the low octane maps which have lowers AFRs and pulled timing to preserve the engine.

^Sorry, should have mentioned that I'm not a turbo noob... I'm just used to my Civic ('92-'95), it doesn't have a knock sensor.
So is ECUflash the newest, best way to tune the Lancer? Is it a PB? or a chipped ecu? Guess I've missed its introduction to the forums...

www.openecu.org is the place to get all the info. ECUFlash is opensource software that allows you to read from and re-flash your OEM STOCK ECU! So no need for piggybacks or standalones.

Ecuflash is inexpensive (The cable you need) and it's very powerfull. You can tune open and close loop.
And you don't have the "hang" you got with the Piggyback when you quick shifting. (Hang when you shift really fast... A felling hard to explain)

So these cable you purchase plug directly into the ports in the ECU? or is there any modification needed to connect it? Reason I ask is cuz we (Hondas w/ P06,P08,P28) can solder in a usb cable into the ecu and can use a variety of FM through that. Though I'm sticking with my chipped ECU...
