auto or sitck shift (turbo) lancer?
auto or sitck shift (turbo) lancer?
which is more quicker? im sure the automatic trannys heat up much quicker too. people always say with an auto you never loose boost but why is the manual still quicker than the automatic turbo? i have also heard n/a autos are big downfall but on turbo their completely different.
Firstly it's just "quicker" not "more quicker". Secondly, manuals are generally faster because there is less parasitic loss from the transmission but autos don't lose boost when they shift. A good manual driver should be able to beat a comparably modded auto.
You can't beat manual in road race or any driving that requires turning and good engine control.
^I third that! Nothing like loosing a half or whole second by missing a shift... but autos on the road course just plan suck! My first auto-x, I had to go into it telling myself I gotta smash the gas a half/whole second early on corner exits just keep pace. But after 2 yrs of driving, it's not something that you can change with a flip of a switch...
But to answer the original question, manual Lancer will. And you can always get a tranny cooler too if that's something you're worried about!

Have you guys ever raced a modded auto car at the track?
Trust me on this one, unless you running a straight Powerglide or something, the average auto tranny is a dog at the track. Sure you dont have to change, but the small thing of shifting ideally instead of waiting for the auto to shift makes a big difference. I see comparable autos and manuals running differences of 0.5 seconds and greater!
Auto works wonders yes, but unless it is a straight race car, manual for either road or track, in my opinion at least.

Oh, one thing we forgot... the autos naturally loses more power due to parastic loss through the tranny. So two Lancers, both with the same exact kit and parts, the auto will be slower...period.
