My Turbo build up

Ok, the chances of me actually putting money down for the turbo kit are about 75% right now. It will happen in the next 2 weeks but I will keep track of my progress on here. Needless to say if that 25% comes true I will ask mods to delete it lol.

Background:

-This is my first car
-Odometer getting ready to hit 6 digits
-Automatic transmission

Goal: A reliable, original, and fast daily driver.

Estimated budget- $4500

What I will be getting:

Garrett Dual Ball Bearing T28
Oil lines
Intercooler
Piping
Tial 38mm WG
Greddy BOV
Piping
2.5" Downpipe
Couplers etc.
Walbro 255 fuel pump
FPR
440 injectors
Apexi SAFC Neo (already have)
Boost gauge
EGT gauge
Oil gauge
NGK plugs (colder)
Custom made tubular manifold

All installed for that price as well as tuned and getting the automatic trans flushed.

Looking to boost between 7 and 9 PSI. WHP Goal- 225

Buying everything brand new so if/when I do sell the car I can have an awesome kit still laying around that is basically universal.

Motto ( ) - Do it right the first time.

I am spending quite a bit... but I don't want a DOUBT in my mind about this kit quality.

Why do you think it'll be that much? Will everything be new? I just gathered the turbo kit pieces for my Civic that amounted to around $1k, minus the turbo that would net me 350+ hp with a good tune.

Lancers are so dang expensive to mod...Argh!

Well, going through a local shop and I decided I want everything brand new. I know for a fact I could have done it much cheaper. But the turbo alone will be close to 1 grand. Of course being the real T28 and the dual ball bearing, spool up time will be even better. I might try to get a few things such as injectors used and the sort. But main components. Turbo, WG, BOV, etc. will be all brand new.

sounds like you got a good plan of attack going. Your car sounds like mine. lol. i'm auto and at 78K miles.

couple of things i would reccomend though.
First is fill your motor mounts, otherwise they will get trashed when you go turbo.

Secondly, see if you can find an NSC engine damper. Those are a massive help, they will get rid of wheel hop, and on our auto's will get rid of that rediculous jolt from the car when it switches gears.

thirdly you need to beef up your suspension. Do you have a rear sway bar? What tires you using?

Around christmas time my suspension will get slightly upgraded. I have Hankook ventus 205's that grip like a mother lol. Especially in dry. I can see wheel hop becoming a problem though and might fill my mounts. Also, I have searched and can't find it but what is the MAXIMUM PSI I could run on stock internals? Just wondering if with a good tune 8 or 9 PSI could be a very safe DD. Next major update will probably be Monday or Tuesday when I go to the shop to talk it all over with them again before the probable ordering.

around 9psi. I think someone pushed 12psi using a T25 on a TSI kit and blew their motor.

I am gonna run 7 psi on a 16G. That seems like a good medium between power, and reliability

so 7 or 8 should be just fine? I think at either I should be fine and making my 225 goal. Even at 7 PSI the RRM kit would put down 200 wheel. So with a good tune, 2.5" downpipe etc. I should get that extra 25.

In that case, I've got a set of used [11k miles] Evo VIII injectors F/S...was going to use then in the Civic kit, but am now decidedly running on E85. Need something much larger. PM me if you'd like to know the details!

Good luck!

ditch the DBB turbo. not needed IMHO on this platform. We have low HP goals and its just too much.

Buy a t28 or t25. Hell for the cost get a new t3/t4 or 16g.

Wish ya luck with your turbo. I'm in the process of putting mine together too. Going with the 16g. I started gathering parts last week sometime. Good luck
