ROAD/RACE- Turbo my 08's NUTS
+1 heh seriously... only thing i feel like seeing updated in here is what stage the turbo is in.. how the progress is coming.. it will be released.. and when CVT is done.. everything else should be spoken about under its own respective topic.
That's modified, hell a GTS could take an MR if you dump enough money into it. That's like saying the WRX is faster than the STI because if you go stage 2, you can keep up. The fact is the average consumer doesn't modify their car in any way, no rims, no upgraded brakes and certainly no engine modifications. The difference between a 20000$ car and a 25000$ is a lot bigger than the difference between a 28000$ and a 33000$ car in terms of what markets they address. If you already have the income to blow 28000$ on a car, an extra 5000$ isn't a big deal. By comparison, moving from 20000$ to 25000$ puts you in an entirely different income bracket. It's like saving 2000$ on a corvette, if you're considering a corvette in the first place, 2000$ is a joke. The problem Mitsubishi could run into is that if they price the Ralliart wrong, they'll lose some of the potential customers to the evo (they won't mind this that much), some to other companies like Subaru, Chevy, Dodge, Mazda, etc. (this they'll hate) and those that will remain won't be their ideal market (ie. they'll have more soccer moms wanting AWD than actual fans who will make the car a cult favorite).
is (according to CAD and Edmonds) trying to price the 09 RA in the same range with the same equipment as the WRX to compete in that market. However with the dealer mark ups, It going to drive more customers to poop out 5K more and get the EVO X or get a WRX or Sti instead. There are lots of other cars that fall in this price range with hp close to or more than the 09 RA. The MSpeed 3 is 200 hp at 25K take home, the GTI is 200 hp at 23+K take home, the SRT 4 is almost 300 hp at 25+K take home, WRX, Audi A3, so forth and so forth.... None of which have AWD except for the WRX and I think its available on the A3 as well! I think that RRMs kit is a good alternative to make the power for thoes with the base Lancer but you not gonna have AWD, LSD, Waranty, traction, and a host of other things. Well, lets see what the final price tag is, before I say its worth it over a RA.
Fully loaded GTS 25K + 7K turbo kit + 1.5 K install and tune = 32K
Dealer priced 09 RA = 32K
Same price, still a BIG difference.
Check out my sig for more information on how this works!

This is on topic. It pertains to how relitive the kit is to the market it is being delivered to, and what other options are available.
Not like there is any dealer bashing here!

oh well...Second... under the assumption that your vehicle prices are right... the RRM turbo is CHEAPER. since if you would have actually read a bit... a price range was stated... ~$4500.. not $7000
That's all i wanted to say
First... great math... i didn't know that 25 + 7 + 1.5 = 32. i thought it was 33.5
oh well...

seriously, if the RA didn't exist, a GTS with RRM turbo would've been great. but the RA seriously puts a damper on tuning the GTS. if you knew about the RA and got the GTS anyways and don't regret your decision then ok. but there are a lot of people who subconsciously regret buying their GTS whether it's because of the 09's getting 2.4L or the RA coming out with AWD, turbo, acd, recaros, hids, etc. these people feel bad and will stop at nothing to "justify" their purchase to make themselves feel better.
i think ROCK would agree. the turbo kit was made for the people who want to keep their GTS. not all these people who are sorry about their purchase and who were never really serious about a turbo kit.

See, I mentioned we were swapping a clutch and then people assume if you turbo, you are gonna blow your clutch......... then, do we get a clutch with the turbo........then..... you get the idea. No one said you need a clutch. I said I needed one on this car.... but jump to conclusions. Lets keep that stuff to a minimum. If clutch was a issue, I would just detune the kit. That does not seem to be needed. Someone quote that instead of stuff, Barney Freckle Face said is the real story about RRM turbo kit. Thanks.

When I bought my car it was $25,100 CAD MSRP. Then I added some extras. Add to that taxes, delivery fees and financing interest, and I am up to about $30,000 for what some originally only see as "Starting at $17,000!" (base model)
Now, I have had the car for only half a year, and sure the 2.4L looks nice, and the RA also looks nice, but what some of you moneybags don't think about is that some people have PRIDE in their cars and wish to keep them for a while to maximize their 'investment'. If I try to sell the car I INSTANTLY lose how much, like $7-8k? Now is THAT worth upgrading to get AWD, ACD, Recaros, HIDs, etc?
So, for me, in a few years time when the car is paid off, I can AFFORD to plop $5000 into it to give it some more juice. This forum thread is helpful to see the development, but to also show my support for their products, even though they may not see a dime from me in the short term future.
This is a product that will be available for as long as the 2008s are on the road, which will be a long time. After you upgrade-happy people are through with your car and upgrade to the latest and greatest, you will sell your Lancer for $10-12k to some kid on a budget. He will also spend $5k for the turbo and will be just as fast as you in your 2009 RA.
So quitcher b1tchin, and let RRM decide the price of their product. Frankly, I doubt any of these opinions matter to their marketing department, so you're just wasting your breath.

More mis info via great Math and the mind readers on the board. Maybe I should just give up all this forum stuff and just work on my website.... Hmmmm. GTSs are $25K? RRM kits are $7K? Installs are $1.5K. I need to raise prices to meet your expectations.

sorry rock i tried, so any ballpark estimates on how well the cvt will handle?
yeah seriously, i am NOT planning on buying this kit any time soon due to the fact i have a son/other bills to pay... Though i am VERY interested in the development and release of this kit, i know a few people with 04-06 lancers/ralliarts that are sporting RRM Turbo kits/RRM Parts.
I must say that RRM is one of the few companies that actually does their work right. For all you people who are just assuming what the kit is going to cost/how reliable it is going to be in the long run.... RRM makes an AWSOME product and you will not be disappointed. (and yes i know they released a $4500 ballpark price)
I will most likely buy this kit when i know that i have the money to spend on it.
RRM puts pride, quality, and their hearts into their products to make something the consumer will love or grow to love. Though no one understands this conecpt, they Specialize in Mitsubishi's and Lancers themselves... Which makes them better then other companies who just build the kit, sell it, and then people will complain when things start breaking.
One of my buddies with the 06 RA who has a RRM Turbo kit on it right now, has had that kit on for a pretty good duration, and i must say it is one of the best quality kits i've seen. He has not had one single problem with his car since the install, his engine is in like new condition still even under boost. So... RRM knows what they are doing.
Rob, just keep doing what your doing.. the ones who will support you will support you... the ones who wont will go off and lose like 5k on a trade in for a different car.. its truely up to them. But in my opinion this kit is going to rock, and many will buy it.

(Don't forget, GTS = 3000lbs, RA will be 3400lbs (freaking heavy)+drivertain loss
So just performance talk, even if the RRm turbo is putting the same kinda flywheel numbers that ppl whining about, for the average drivers like me that don't hit the track all the time, I think it's gonna be more G's power interesting.

The install is the best part other than driving it. You dont need 1.5k to have a mechanic do it. A buddy or two, a weekend and a few brews and **poof** you have a turbo kit installed. Lol the are not really that complicated to install. The electronics are probubly going to be the worst part of it. Especially if we have to do a lot of splicing. You could probubly have the kit mounted without elctronics and oil tap on one day.
