The lasting concern that a $3k (correct me if I'm wrong, but AFAIK that's the price) transmission, which is non-serviceable, will go kerplooey. That is his (our?) fear about the CVT model.

I'm hoping for the best. I know that RRM knows what they're doing. But since the CVT is so damn delicate, it IS a concern.

That is one reason but the other ( which could come out of left field ) is that somwhere in ECU land it just wont let that amount of power through. Ive been doin some reading on all the sensors and crap on this thing. There is a ton.

Did you know that the CVT has a tranny oil heater and cooler?

There are two pulley speed sensors. Maybe there is a parameter in software that will not allow the CVT pulleys to accelerate faster than a certain rate?

Yes the CVT is serviceable. There are very detailed instructions on overhauling the entire CVT and there are close to 50 rings, bearings and seals that can be serviced / replaced.

1 Mass airflow sensor
2 Intake air temperature sensor
3 Throttle position sensor (main/sub)
4 Manifold absolute pressure sensor
5 Engine coolant temperature sensor
6 Intake camshaft position sensor
7 Exhaust camshaft position sensor
8 Crankshaft position sensor
9 Knock sensor
10 Heated oxygen sensor (front)
11 Heated oxygen sensor (rear)
12 Fuel tank differential pressure sensor
13 Fuel tank temperature sensor

All these sensors play a role in the performance of the car and every one runs through the ECU. Not that these are something new in the industry but each will contribute to whether of not the car will be allowed through software to go faster / quicker.

If it comes down to an ECU issue do we have the know how to change this parameter? RRM?

How far along is WORKS with their ECU crack?

Most if not all the sensors you listed are found on older models that have been turboed successfully. I don't see any reason why the engine can't be turboed. Whether the tranny can take it is a completely different issue.

Sensors are sensors. ECUs are not ECUs. CAN-BUS ECUs behave and communicate differently that OB2ss. That is why most scanners won't even talk correctly with the new Lancer. The rules have changed.

This is very true but the Key Word was "older". You've seen what a pain in the *** just the DRLs have been.

Im crossing my fingers for a turbo but I wouldnt be suprised.

As I said, I don't see any logical reason why a turbo system would be impossible. I'm sure there are ways to manipulate the sensors.

^ but are we talking adding to the price of the kit to bypass/modify the sensors because the CVT is such a PITA?

Meh. With the 2008s, we've already seen a few areas (DRLs obviously come to mind) where things CANNOT be changed, even with a tech using an MUT-III...

I see where you're coming from, I'm just saying that eventually someone will figure it out and get it working. It could be in 6 months or it could be in 6 years, depends entirely on how complex the tuning is and whether Mitsubishi was nice enough to put some surprises in there.

Still working on it. We are half way done. Just waiting on a couple parts now.

what are some major/minor problems that you all came across that you fixed when working with the MT turbo kit?

Maybe.

When I had the 2001 Subaru 2.5rs, we all kept telling ourselves that someone like Cobb would come out with an N/A AccessPort. And that will probably never happen...

In the end, we are Lancer owners. 99% of items can be summarized as "if RRM doesn't make it, no one will."
