rrm turbo lancer oil?
i know its advised to run 20w50 non synt. temperatures in cali has a more steady temp than here in virginia. i know it doesn't get too cold but when its 50 degrees my car has somewhat a hard time. yes i know the ralliarts made a thread about oil but i cant compare my car w/ them due to that we have different motors. even my cousins friend turbo 3g eclipse runs a tearstone turbo kit. he mentioned them to run 10w30 full syn same with my friends 2001 auto turbo galant (both use 4g64 engine btw). the 4g64 engine is the closest we can get too. everyone always complains me running non syn oil and it gets pretty annoying. even some lancer people that i know of.
this pretty much proves why synthetic oil is bad for our cars:

my question is....
is it safe to run 15w40non synt on colder temps?

Yes but.....
i would only switch to the lower visc oil when your temps are regulary below freezing and even then i would take it easy on your car. You dont want to starve the engine for oil.

Most turbo'd Civic owners I know run 10/30 or 5/30...and I've never heard of someone saying that my oil caused my motor to lock up or anything. So I'd run 10/30 if I even cared to have a turbo'd lancer.

in colder temps i see whyd want a thinner oil, but at the same time, once your car gets up to running temp. its all good. why would you run your car hard at a cold temp? give it time to warm up. i have used 20-50 mobile one non-syn since i started running my turbo.
i have also hurd that our pump isnt that good for thinners oils, ill stick to what rrm runs on their turbo setups and stick to that. ive figured that they have a lot of experience with these cars

I was gona ask the same question because i just installed my kit, and they (RRM) told me to run 20w50. iT's hard to find around here..had to go to 3 diff. stores! But anyways, it's winter now and its getting closer to the -*C temps now and i think 20w50 is really thick...i know i can let the car warm up befor hand, but it's still really thick to do that....i don't know if i want to sit and wait 5mins everytime for my car to warm up....it can get really, really cold here sometimes! like -20*C with a windshield to make it feel like -40*C. that's f'in cold!
And again, the whole synthetic thing, read the post! If our engines can't handle and pump around the thin stuff, then why use it? Our engines are not meant for it...
