Turbo Help!

Although the "search tool", on this site is nice I need a more direct response from the people who know best. What is the best bang for your buck! Can some one help me to turbo my 2006 O-Z lancer on a budget of less than 1,500$.Any idea's, questions,or helpful comments. I work In a service station where I have access to most of the tools I will need as well as a mechanical understanding and overall common sense
Thanks!

you cant have all 3 (cheap, reliable, fast) for under 1500 when it comes it to turbo.

theirs a non intercooled kit for 1700+shipping on the lancer pvt sale section:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=299369

but to be honest if you buy that...your gonna be spending alot still. maybe close to 3 to get everything right. were also going to need the 5th injector setup and the piggy that comes w/ the kit uses a different tune. different gens, different things.

Under $1500 is really pushing it. The quality of the parts will definitely be reflected. I work for a speed shop and installed everything myself and it costed around $2000. A custom kit will be your best route but will take alot of work. The kit is only going to be as good as your knowledge of a turbo kit and your car. Good Luck.

I dont want to sound like a flaming a**hole but i was able to turbo my OZ for less then $1000. I just found an amazing deal on here from someone who was fed up with the problems they were having with their setup and i was willing to put my time into finding out what was wrong and fix it. All said and done i think i spent about maybe 1k for the whole setup.

Its just a standard RRM non IC. The wastegate was missing the valve seal, there were no oil lines included in the setup, and all the bolts and gaskets were missing as well. Ill get pics for you guys.

Honestly, $1500 on the Lancer for boost won't get you far. It's unfortunate, but the truth...

$1500 is not too far of a stretch depending on the resources you utilize. Since about 85% of your potential kit will be parts from an Evo VII you need to be on the lookout for Evo guys that have upgraded their engines and have their stock parts available to sell. You'll need the turbo, oil/water lines, o2 housing, intake pipe, intercooler, piping w/ couplers, BOV and downpipe. You will also need to purchase a Forge wastegate actuator with a 5psi spring. All that's left is the manifold, fluid lines and fittings which are all custom items. I would make a good connection with someone who does fab work to make you a good manifold. This is the area I would not skimp on. A cheaply made/hacked and bonded manifold won't last you long. The fluid lines and fittings can be purchased at Home Depot, Autozone, Advanced, etc. For tuning I recommend using EcuFlash and EvoScan. You need a Tactrix interface cable to utilize both. The license for EvoScan is around $25 if I recall.

With all this in mind you will have your turbo'd Lancer on your budget. If you want to utilize the maximum potential of this setup it will entail larger injectors and fuel pump, stronger clutch and a boost controller.

A good start for you right now would be to research, research, research. Many, many people have been in your situation and have put together this same kit. You need to read about where they had problems, what they did to fix those problems and the insight everyone provided from their own experiences. Begin putting together a list of every single part and piece you will need for your kit so you don't have any surprises or forget any parts. Best of luck to you.
