Turbo kits through vision imports

I've emailed Matt over at visionimports (they get there stuff from RPW) about there kits I’ve heard about.

This is what he replied:

Stage 1 turbos come with the following:
Garret T-25 Ball Bearing Turbo - rated to 300hp incl internal waste gate control set to 7 psi. RPW Custom Turbo manifold with External Waste gate option.
RPW Custom mandrel bent dump pipe incl flex pipe to catalytic converter.
Oil feed and return lines & fittings supplied.
Water feed fittings supplied on turbo. Four modified high flowed injectors Bosch plumb back blow off valve. Unichip computer controller (Piggy back to standard computer) - pre-programmed.
Slim line thermo fans for air conditioning and radiator.

Stage 2 comes with the following:
Upgrade of blow off valve to Turbo smart Type 2 plumb back design.
Upgrade of air filter to K&N Filter charger kit specific to Air Mass Sensor. with Cold Air Feed. Upgrade of throttle body to RPW 55mm Oversize unit and matching machined intake manifold. Fitment of level 1 decompression plate for boost levels over 7 psi.
Heat treatment of turbo manifold for reduced under bonnet temperatures Fitment of FSE Power boost rising fuel pressure regulator.
Piping can be supplied for cold air feed for air filter.
Stage 1 turbo grind camshaft available with valve springs.
Fitment of Vernier camshaft sprocket with either Camshaft or Decompression head gasket.

Stage 3 comes with the following:
Turbo upgraded to T-28 ball bearing turbo - 300 - 400hp rating.
Use of external waste gate control 45mm diameter. Fitment of Turbo Stage 1 or larger turbo camshaft and valve spring upgrade.
Fitment of level 2 decompression head gasket. Upgrade of Unichip controller to full Aftermarket computer - we recommend either Haltech or Motec systems. Motec may be available to fit inside original computer boxes for emission control purposes. Settings above 15 psi will definitely require internal modifications - conrods, pistons above 15psi. Probable fitting of extra 5th & 6th injector assemblies.
Upgrade of fuel pump assembly.

Pricing
Stage 1 $2,400
Stage 2 $2,878
Stage 3 $5,150 <-- ouch!!!

Sounds good… maybe. Should I through the work of doing it this way or just go with RRM?

Well isn't the problem for you that you're in CA and they're in Florida. Why not stick with Road Race since your soo conveniently close to you. FL is even a stretch for me and I live in Virginia. Unless you were planning on purchasing a Turbo kit and installing it yourself.

I would stick with RRM unless you have any Knowledge on how to install a Turbo kit or have someone to do it for you. or have some extra money to pay for it to be installed..

Turbos are new to me

Turbos are new to me. Whats the deal with the stages? Is it the higher the stage the bigger the turbo? which equals more hp?

170 to the wheels running 7PSI with intercooler I believe on the T-28 Spool is at 2000RPMs I think so there's no lag either. Whether the explode I have no idea, but I highly doubt they'd be using them for performance applications if it was prone to serious or early failure.

I wouldn't do that if I were you. That requres an engine reuild which currently can't be done on a Lancer by simple part swapping. They would need to machine you pistons, rods and change your cam profile or replacement of it totally; new valve springs.

I see. I'd say for a stage 3 you'll be looking at more like 7Gs of work and parts. Don't forget the computers BTW you'll need those.
