The only Lancer that DOESN'T have the same motor as the EVO is the 09+ GTS. It has a 4b12, whereas the ES, DE, and 08 GTS all have a 4b11. The only difference in the engine between regular Lancers and the EVOs is that they are turbocharged.

 

^^they may share the similar engine codes but there's more than just bolting a turbo that differentiates them.

Thank you for clearing that up. I was unaware that there were any differences other than the turbocharger. What about the 4b11 in the Ralliart though? Is it the same as the one in the EVOs?

 

same engine. the only difference this time is what's bolted on it. Smaller turbo, smaller FMIC, andi think rubber IC piping

 

Just a though, but has RRM ever experimented with a super charger? i know a lot of people don't like them because boost is determined by RPM and not exhaust pressure, though i think that a supercharged lancer CVT would out-last a turbo'd by a long shot assuming you aren't red-lining it a lot. just some food for thought.
