? The transmission is "glass" in the sense that you can't do many 6000 RPM clutch dumps because, with an AWD platform, the stress on the gears is very high and they actually break. As said, unless you're pushing over 300 HP, a 3" exhaust is a waste of money.

I can see where you're coming from , but I for one know for a fact that you just do NOT need a 3" system for a car making less then lets say 400hp . Now , I have seen many with cars making 275hp and they have 3" systems installed . I just will not offer any of our customers a 3" system unless they tell me they have serious plans to build their motors for power goals over 400hp - thats just ME and I speak for myself and my shop and not for ANYOTHER shop out there .

right, you want as little back pressure as possible, but what is a turboed car when it is at lower RPMs than the spooling RPM of the turbo? its NA since you are not producing any boost at all. what happens to a NA car with big straight pipe exhaust? you lose low-end torque. on a turboed car, you can make up for that by having a SMALL amount of back pressure for the low-end torque, but not TOO MUCH to hamper high-end performance. there is a fine line between ALL high-end power (completely straight) and ALL low-end power (lot of back pressure). for the 2008 Lancer turboed, that line is 2.5" piping.

and plus, 2.5" mufflers are cheaper

So lets say that I would want my EVO to make around 350whp you would recommend a 2.5" exhaust??? I say 3" TBE with heat wrap and its a done deal. Well, good luck next week with the tune. John "Jestr" is one of the top tuners, he tuned my EVO.

no, hes saying if you made that much power, 3" would be good!

You can ask every shop here a question and you can get many answers! But I look at it this way , if Isell you something YOU do NOT need and months later you find out that you could had saved $250 how would YOU feel about that ? Also , at this point with so much competition you can get a cheap 3" exhaust for the Evo - the lancer is a much smaller market so companies that make nice set-ups will only make a limited amount which will keep cost just a bit higher .

Like I said before, you don't not want back pressure when you have a turbo... If you have back pressure your car will spool up slower and you will not make as much power.

Hahahaha... fat girls don't always like candy.

2.5" is definitely big enough for a turbo application on a LANCER.. if it were an EVO, I'd probably lean more towards a 3" just because its so much easier to get those cars making serious power.

I was just being sarcastic when I made the 3" comment to begin with, my apologies for starting that stupid argument.

Tis true fat girls like candy

But remember its all fun and games screwing a fat chick tell your friends find out

Wouldnt the turbo it self create enough back pressure to get enough low end for casual driving cause i mean the exhaust has to pass by it on its way out?
