To much heat

Since the installation of my turbo my engine has been running real hot. Then again it is running without a fuel management system but that shouldn't effect my heat problem to much. I have already replaced an accelerator cable because my throttle started sticking. Since the US Lancer only comes with one cable hold down clip (even though it looks like there should be two) my throttle cable was hanging right above the manifold causing the rubber on the cable to melt and re-harden inside the coiling of the cable. In effect when I pushed the pedal the cable just stuck in place until the car red lined and I turned it off real quick, but not before it bounced off the rev limiter a few times. But now.... I have a new clip and a new cable so it is time to try to lower the temp a little. I was thinking of getting an "evo like" hood and was wondering if anyone knew of a good place to get one. I have already spent an arm and a leg so I am looking to save some money also.

On another note by the way.... To follow up on my last post about the E-manage fuel management system that wasn't working..... Well, it still isn't working. I bought the software which was supposed to fix the problem but the computer still won't recognize its existance. So..... I am still stuck at 181hp to the wheels with my fuel pressure cranked up and the blow off valve crancked all the way down to avoid stalling at every stop. (This makes it sound real weird, sort of like a wool wool wool sound between shfits) I have to send it back to Greddy so that they can fix the problem, hopefully. I will keep everyone posted, and optimistically will have the car re-tuned by next week. Wish me luck.

Um. Yes it should. You're probably running dead lean. Are you monitoring fuel pressure, EGT or AFR? You should probably disconnect your compressor side until you have the money, time and working fuel management to get enough fuel into the mix.

yeah and get an egt gauge, it will save your engines life.

Fuel management can cause this heat like andrew said.

For cooling you could get an RRM evo vent and just cut a hole in your hood and rivet that on.

I have the VIS hood with vents and it lets a gripe of heat out.

theres something you can wrap on your turbo, your turbo itself generates an *** load of heat, they also have sheilds you can put over your cables and stuff, also i believe theres somethign you can put on the underneath of your hood that is supposed to suck heat in or something

The underhood material is reflective. I have so much DEI **** just sitting my closet that it's silly. Holding off on a lot of it in case I get a CF hood in the near future. There are simple silicone sprays that help retain heat as well, but I think the real issue is your fuel system.

Heat Kills the parts you are trying to retain it in, don't try to reflect it, cover it or anything else, let it out(hole in the hood or a really high CFM fan it force it out).

Also Im glad to hear that i'm not the only member of the melted throttle cable club. Mine melted because I left it laying against the valve cover which gets extremely hot on homemade turbo applications .

Yeah, but heat dissipation also robs the engine of some performance and slows the warming of oil and coolant. There are definite benefits to wrapping/coating etc. On the other hand, I don't think that's the issue here.
