oem 4g93 cam with turbo set up??

im planning on getting a 4g93 cam for my car.. i've been trying to research the issues of dropping in the cam.. but every other thread that i read would either say "yes, it will work" or "it fits but doesn't work".. some of the threads i read were from 2005 so im not sure if they were tested already then..

do i need tuning?? upgrades with valve springs?? do i need to retard timing?? will it be fine with a turbo set up??
thanks in advance for the replies!!

No tuning needed (but tuning is recommended). Just swap & you are good to go. Nothing else is required.

Mirage cam is the equivalent to a Stage 1 auto Lancer cam.

This upgrade seems to be one of the most talked about, I have put off doing it though just because of the same reasons that the OP has said. Differences in what everyone has been reporting.

Well I dont have a 4G94 so I cannot say for fact. What I can say is that the auto and manual Mirage cams are identical, BUT the thing you have to watch out for is that the 97 Mirages came with solid lifters and the 98 and up came with hydraulic and hence the cams for the 97s are based on those adjustable lifters and likewise the cams for 98+ are for hydraulic. If I recall, there were slight differences in cams between the years.

The Lancer's cam is a 240/248 and the Mirage is 248/248 ... with that increase on the intake side, it would be recommended you get the car tuned as with any other modifications, but that is not aggressive enough in my opinion to warrant needing tuning. Stage 2 can get as aggressive as 266/256 so you can see why tuning is necessary.

yes it is an upgrade. but not one that i think is really worth doing unless u get it for a good price. a stage 2 cam from rrm would be a good performance inhancement, but tuning is required.

if u want the extra few hp it can give, then go for it. but i just dont see where 4 degrees of lift will help that much. if you can get a cam off a mirage for cheap, then do it.
