recommended turbo timer?

Well Ive got a good couple weeks before i get the turbo kit, but I'm trying to prepare in advance. I looked for any reviews of a turbo timer but no look, just wondering if anyone would like to give recommendations rather than just picking one. I won't be on the track or anything so I'm not going for a boost controller, I'm just gonna keep it at 6 psi the whole time. The luxury of the timer though would be nice though. Thanks guys.

They all basically do the same things. Unless you plan on using the secondary functions just go with whatever you like most/is cheapest. It's really not hard to sit in your car for a couple minutes either, but it can be a pain in the *** at times so I can sympathize.

I chose the Blitz FATT DC II for mine. Gruppe-S has/had an electronics special with them for $100 shipped.

Oh GOD tell me about it !!!! I didnt really give a crap about hot shutdowns on my t25 cuz I knew i wouldnt have it for long. But now I find myself sitting in my car for at least a minute and a half just staring...waiting.....Geez I wonder what the neighbors think? I need to stop spending money on my gamecube and xbox games and just go buy my *** a timer. Once I got it tho I wouldnt get around hooking it up untill three months later anyways...so I guess its a wash!!!

They say it only needs to sit under hard driving or long highway drives.....I just coast down the street, and when I get home or to work I let it idle for 30 seconds or so. I only do this under normal driving conditions. If I race it then I let it sit for a minute or two..

Most people will state that you should do this under moderate or hard driving true. I live in Seattle where the traffic is a real B*&ch. Some of the hardest things on engines and that generate lot of heat is stop and go traffic. If you are just driving to the store that is 5 mins, no traffic, away at 25-30 mph i wouldnt suggest sitting there for over a min but after like you stated freeway driving or commuting in traffic, I would say sit there for over a minute. Heres something for you if you dont believe that turbo can get that hot. Drive somewhere at moderat levels not racing just normal at about 40 mph for 10-15 minutes. Do this at night, get out and open your hood.....

yea, plus the turbo isnt my only mod, theres gonna be a fair amount of work under there, plus i drive on an expressway everyday back and fourth to school, plus going to to the gym, and whatever, i cnan see it taking up time just sitting there, especially if im late for a class so the timer will just make things a lot easier, ill jsut install it when i put the turbo in, probly give me some troubles, electronics + cars dont like me, but im good with the manual labor stuff, heh

You can put the turbo timer in before you put the turbo in. It's a pretty easy install (though my 12v source isn't constant for some odd reason so I'm going to have to fix it the next chance I get to pull apart my car ...probably Thursday night). That or I'm not certain I'm getting the correct voltage from the hand brake...I've got some time to work with the multi-meter on nights I don't have class though.

My fans also run constantly with key on or the car running and also for 45 seconds after the key has been removed from the ignition. Little perk Jeff at ILP tossed me, but it can be annoying and a drain on the battery. Helps tremendously with heatsoak while stopped though.

but isnt that the point? to keep it running a little, i dont think it would kill the battery, its like listneing to a song on the radio for a couple minutes at night with your lights on and ****, just make sure you don't kill it. maybe then change the battery? i dont know about batteries much, never was an issue in my mind

Separate issue. Not something that will happen on your car. It's pretty much specific to my Lancer because so far as I'm aware I'm the only one set up like that. And the fans plus the radio drain the battery pretty quicky (that's the only reason I'd leave the car in acc on). Lights just make it worse.

well I guess there is just a button on the receiver that activates the TT and it can run for 1,2, or 3 minutes (you determine how long). I was quoted that the base system (each system includes the TT) is about $170 installed, but it costs more if you want stuff like autostart, trunk, windows, and other junk like that. So its a hellava deal when you consider that a TT alone is gonna run you at least $100.

I think Viper security systems have this same feature, but this guy specifically recommended compustar (www.compustar.org)

Go with the new HKS type 1 US -spec. I just installed one. They are a great timer with tons of features. Just make sure to get the harness, makes it a bolt. The features for the timer is of course the 1, 2,3 min shut down but this also has a auto-feature that the timer does. It records you driving style by monitiring the RPMS and what not and determines how ling to run the car. It also has some gG-tech features, 1/8, 1/4 mile times, 60' times, 0-60 times. It also remembers peak speed and rpm numbers. Another feature is the dual stage rpm warnings that you set. I have mine set at 3400 for when I hit full boost then the screen starts to flash from blue to red and beeps at you, then for the stage 2 is at 7400 then the screen goes red with a solid long beep telling me Im almost at redline. The speed warning feature does this also. You were wondering about the battery dont worry about it. Thats another feature..It also tells you real time voltage readings from your battery. So if you leave your car and the timer sees that you have low voltage on your battery it will just shut the car down and not go thru with the timing process.
