Rev limiter hitting at 3000rpms

I have a 2002 oz with a rrm intercooled turbo. Everything has been fine for the past 5 years. The prob is when im in second or third gear mostly third it will stop at about three thousand rpms like im hitting the rev limiter and all i can here is the wastegate fluttering. It used to only happen when i was given her hell but now it doesn't matter. I checked for boost leaks but everything is solid and checked all the other obvious things. It could be a million things just seeing if anyone has had this happen and able to diagnos it. Thanks

I think when the car is in limp mode the fuel cut is around 4000, you throwing any SES lights?
Maybe something's wrong with your wastegate causing it to flutter?

When it does it a random/multiple misfire code comes up but i always erase it with a code checker. Im not sure if that will reset it all the way so it will get out of limp mode I code just disconnet the battery and see what happens. I think if it was the wastegate it rev fine i would just have probs with boost. Im not sure though. I'v checked the plugs/wires coilpacks vacuum leaks etc...

It does seem to have a mis at idle but barley anything that a person not knowing the car would prob think nothings wrong but it's there. And the weird thing is if i put the headlights on it will usually go away and if i turn them off it will come back. And sometimes the mis will clear up on its own???

Well, for one, you should try fixing the source of the problem rather than re-setting the code all the time. If it recurs there is something wrong. As for the headlights being on, assuming it's more than coincidence, sounds like something electrical to me, but I haven't much knowledge of turboed vehicles, just a basic understanding.

P0300 is most likely spark plugs or injectors.

yea i know i shouldn't keep turning it off but im stumped i'v looked at everything 3 times over took it to a couple local shops and mitsubishi and no one could find anything wrong. But it's been like this for two years off and on. The only thing i havn't looked at really is the inj. The pump is good im getting good fuel pressure up to the rail. How do you check inj. Besides just listening to them to see if there all clicking the same.

yea im still using stock inj
I haven't had a prob with any thing until a year or two ago and i'v had the kit on for about five. I talked to the guys at road race and said the sock inj were fine. Even though i thought about putting some larger ones in. I wasn't having an probs so i left them.

If your sure it's not the spark plugs then I would get the injectors cleaned and flow tested.
There's deatschwerks and rc engineering that can do that

if im gonna take them out anyway should i just put some new ones in and if i do should a get larger inj. wrx mabye. Thanks for your help. The weird thing is sometimes it will be ok for a couple weeks and then then start to cut off at 3000 rpms for a couple weeks but before i put it away for winter it got real bad. It acually acted up again after i put the light crack pulley in which im going to put the stock one back on in spring just because it seems alittle noisy with the rrm one and it's not really worth it to me.

02-05 wrx injectors will work fine.
I bought mine off of a member at nasioc for $100 and got them cleaned and flow tested.
STI injectors will work fine also as long as they are top fed.

As for the bov, remove the smaller spring and leave the bigger one. Does not need to be on so tight, the screw should be on the loose setting because it's only 7 PSI. If it leaks on the freeway tighten it some more.
