02-07 lancer es to 08+ es, gts (discuss)

as far as going turbo with a 02-07 lancer es comparted to a 08+ gts is there a major diffrence if any at all in power?

what about the potential of both?

ive hear alot of people saying the b11 has far greater potential then a g94 and then ive hear alot of people saying even dumbping 15,000$ you will still be lucky to ever get to 300whp.

Yes, they are two completely different engines. The 4G94 is based off of the old 4G93 from the Mirage and it less capable of handling boost; the walls are thin and the rods and pistons are weak. By contrast, the 4B11 and the 4B12 are new motors and should be more boost capable. The old 300 WHP target is a whole new can of worms. On some dynos, you could relatively easily hit it, on some, you'd be lucky to get close with a long list of mods.

has anyone really figured out the boost capability of the new es or gts stock?
or if the fuel managment systems are good enough stock for boost.
( like injectors, fuel pump, fpr)

Talk to Rob from RRM or the guy from extremeboost if you want information on the boosting capabilities of the 4b11 or 4b12 engine. They at least should have some sort of idea as to how far you can push it on stock internals.

Evo X engine parts are not necessarily compatible with the NA 4b11. But, I think its a good guess that the 08+ lancer will hold boost better and won't throw a rod or destroy a piston on moderate boost like the 4g94. That's just a guess though.

It really is too early to tell whether the upgrade is worth it because it seems your priority is the turbo and not the rest of the car.

I wouldn't assume anything about evo/lancer compatibility or HP possibilities on the new base lancer platform. It hasn't been tested to the extreme. The better question is how far do you want to go?

But then you need all the parts that go with the Evo pistons, namely a turbo system, fuel upgrades, etc.

im not trying to make the fastest car in the world.
but if a gts has more potential then my 05 es then i def want to upgrade.
my car is my passion and i love modding it. i know the 4g94 is lucky to ever get 300hp and at that point you just run into problems constantly. so i was just wondering if the 4b11 or 4b12 would much more suitable.

If you're hoping for 300whp from the 4B11 or 4B12, you'll still be running into problems due to the more than double increase in stock hp. Any engine going from, say, 130hp to 300hp is going to have its own share of problems if not done properly.

well we got a b11 in evos.

not saying im trying to make an evo but from what ive heard anything out of a b11 evos fits in the b11 gts.

so if the same motor is producing that kind of hp not bumming out then why wouldnt it in a gts.

Yes and no. The Lancer's have a 4B11. The Evo's have a 4B11T. So technically you would have to acquire many parts from the Evo to gain the numbers. And even then it still wouldn't run as perfectly as it would on the Evo because you need to factor in fuel, ignition, tuning, etc.

The new Lancer is NOT just a FWD, N/A Evo.

Nobody can make a car as good as the manufacturer, even if they sound similar, the simple fact that you're adding parts after the fact makes them less reliable.
