Need help building a turbo kit!!!!!

I have a 05 lancer es and I was thinking about putting a turbo in it but I don't want to spend over 4000 like on RRM. First off is it even worth putting a turbo on a 4G94 engine??? I am new to turbos so if anyone could tell me exactly what I need to buy so I don't have to spend alot of money on a kit. And I know this may be a stupid question but what about the turbo kits on ebay for lancers that are like 700 dollars minus the manifold and downpipe?? Thanks for the help and the input.

i would not suggest looking into building your own custom turbo kit if you dont really know everything about it. its not the easiest tasks to do... general mechanic skills and a good understanding of turbo systems is definately needed.. and also tuning the vehicle is a big expense once u finish putting it together..

you can build your own kit for pretty cheap, say 1500, with a bunch of used evo parts.. but then you still have to modify a bunch of parts, and also tune the car when your done..
i would never suggest a 700$ ebay special.. u get what you pay for.. and 1500 is a bargin already.
my kit custom kit cost me right at 5k, including all the labor, parts, and tuning. but i went with bigger parts then what anyone puts out there in any kit.

if you want to turbo your car, and you dont know to much about turbo system, i would suggest a kit like RRMs and letting a known tuner shop install and tune it all. but the cost will be way up there.

I've made a list of parts and its roughly $3000 for all the parts.
Turbo Kit Parts List
Here's a compiled list of all the needed parts to turbo our cars. Finding the parts how ever can be difficult some times.
Might want to read Ambystom01's FAQ to our cars.

If you don't know what you need, a custom kit isn't for you. The RRM kit costs what is does for a reason, a good quality turbo costs 1000$ by itself.

this is true. i did a custom kit myself, granted it saved me money and i like it, but if you dont know what your doing then dont do it. too many "little" things to go wrong. it took me 25 hours straight thru to get my turbo in and that is after doing the things i needed to get it in and to modify the evo parts i bought as well. then i had to tune it which was another 2-3 hours before it was "perfect." if yur going to turbo and want an "easy" route, do the rrm kit.

Just do a lot of research. That is the key. Building a turbo kit for the lancer isn't THAT difficult. It looks a lot worse than it is. Check out the link Fuze posted, it's from our website. We have a list of all the parts you will need to build a turbo kit with links and info on where to find the parts.
Feel free to email or call me if you have any questions

The last 2 model years of the GT are slow as can be. A turbo lancer should have about equal power and weigh a good deal less
