Need help building a turbo kit!!!!!
Horsepower is a great thing but when a mustangs biggest problem is the tranny which it is.. That is where it gets beat. I had a 2003 mustang gt before my lancer and it was great and fast until like 40 mph and then if was like being in a regular car. The are just a redneck ferrari.
Get an evo 8 turbo with a 10.5 hotside on a lancer and work the engine with so you can push 14psi and you can say goodbye mustang

turbos win races.. v8s just proove how much power that they CAN make.. but it comes at normally a higher cost..
i prefurr having fun with what i have available to me.. and a small sohc with a big turbo turns into alot of fun very quickly..

I'm sorry but that makes no sense. It's simply a matter of power, a current Mustang GT would absolutely embarrass all but the fastest turboed Lancers. 315 HP isn't something to scoff at especially when it's NA (ie. torque everywhere). Turbos are cool but so are big NA motors.
power to weight and gearing is everything. Dont have both and you can easily get beat by someone that did it better. A lancer putting down 230whp will have a slightly better power to weight than the newer mustang and should have a nice powerband depending on which turbo they use to make that power. New internals and a few more psi and a lancer should pull away from a bolt on (full exhaust and intake) mustang. But thats about it, they you have to get a serious build with larger turbos and more revs which cost big $$ and not worth it in a base lancer.
hate to say it.. but i walk all over gt mustangs. my buddies 08 gt was the first car i ran when we finished my car, and on a partial tune i beat him from a roll.. thats all there is here in alabama.. to say that a 300hp gt is faster then a 230hp to the wheel lancer is stupid, maybe someone should look up crank to wheel horsepower numbers on a new mustang.. power to weight, and gearing have alot to do with how fast our cars(and others) are..
BTW.. an 08 GT.. runs 13.8s in a 1/4.. and 230+hp lancer should be able to pace a gt from a dead stop, if not walk away slowly.. and from a roll.. our top end(depending on how much boost were pushing) should be alot better, that goes for autos and manuals.. we make very good hp/trq numbers for a 4banger and we have power all over, traction is our only main issue from a dead stop.
granted i know most people dont have the same turbo i have, but ive seen a 16g lancer and also a t25 lancer take off from a roll.. my lag is the only thing that really hurts me at all.. but i make up for it in the upper rpms.. if i had another 2k rpms.. my car would be ALOT different..(dohc swap is next on my list to do)

According to R&T, the new GT should have a 0-60 of 5.3 seconds, which I think is faster than most Lancers. I agree that a well built Lancer should be able to keep up with or likely beat a stock GT but most turboed Lancers simply don't make enough power. My main issue was the "turbos win races" comment.
