Turbo Cam

I am going to start building my turbo engine now that my turbo kit is almost finished. And i think im going to order RPW stage 4 turbo Cam 272 intake/ Exhaust and .300 lift. Does anyone know of any other cams out there for our car? Does anyone have any input on this cam thanks in advance.

In my opinion I don't think you're going to need that aggressive of a cam.

thats a pretty large cam. These heads dont rev high and if you are using a decent sized turbo, you wont have much of a powerband since these cams will push it back a good 500-750rpms min.

That cam will make more power at higher RPMs and like cincy said our heads won't rev that high if not built.
Daily driving it will be a pain.

ya.. id stick to the stage2 cams. anything beyond that is really to much without a fully built motor.. exspecially the smaller turbo guys(16g and t28 and smaller). a setup like mine id suggest the stage 2 or 3 cam. and for the 16g guys id say a stage 2 rpw or rrm cam..

ill more then likely be getting the stage4 cam, but ill be revvin 7k on a even bigger turbo then i have now.

Nobody's really dyno'd gains seen by using RPW's stage 2, 3 and even 4 camshafts. Without being able to safely rev over 7200rpm, even on a built motor (due to the 4G94's 95.8mm stroke causing dangerously high piston speeds above 7000rpm), you have to wonder what gains can be reasonably had with such a low redline and still be able to maintain streetability.

The cam is not for the current engine it is for the engine i am building. I Port and polished the head and it stops flowing at .300 lift. And as for the enine it will be running 18-20psi daily. And i want a 2nd tune with race gas and more boost for then i go to the track. And i know i will have to rev the engine higher with a 272's thats the reason im looking for a good (light) rod/piston combo that way i can spin the motor high when i want to.And when you say 264 are you meaning Stage 2 or 3?

Description Adv Duration Intake Adv Duration Exhaust Duration @ 0.050" Intake Duration @ 0.050" Exhaust Valve Lift Intake Valve Lift Exhaust Valve Overlap
Stage 1 Turbo Camshaft Replacement for stock cam low boost 13 psi 256 256 0.375 0.375
Stage 2 Turbo Camshaft general purpose 18 psi 266 256 0.375 0.375
Stage 3 Turbo Camshaft street / strip 18 psi + 272 266 0.343 0.343
Stage 4 Turbo Camshaft street / strip 18 psi + 272 272 0.300 0.300

get what you want.

i had the stage 2 that rabbit used and he made about ~280 whp
and the powerband looked fine with a T28.

try something bigger. you dont have to use RPW's specs.
you can have a custom grind made
