ARP head studs?

I have been searching and can not find a real answer. Are ARP head studs
(pn 203 4204) really necessary if you are running a max of 10 lbs of boost? I have been shopping around and have found a few sets for a decent price, but was not sure if they were a necessity.

Short answer is NO they are not necessary. Will you lift your head? Maybe or maybe not, I figured if I am already spending this money on my car I want the added security.

The price of the headstuds isn't the problem, 120 bucks or so right? But...doing the install, and doing it right is where the "cost" comes in. Some people are doing the 1 by 1, but it's almost universally agreed that is the lazy way. Still, many with no problems after doing this. I'm of the mindset that if you are going to do them wrong, you might as well just risk it with the stock headbolts...but I'm no mechanic. Take whatever 03lances says as law, unless senate disagrees

I have been leaning very heavily towards buying them. I just did not want to spend money needlessly. The cost nor the effort is the issue. I do not like to buy parts for the sake of having parts.

+1 with 03lance and Senate

Bro I asked the samething, and I bought some used ones for 70.00 bucks Thank you senate!!! But I decided not to take any chances even if im only pushing 5 pounds of boost. So really the choice is yours most people used the stock studs and had no problems some didnt and most poeple used the ARP headstuds and are boosting there cars like crazy. Think of it like this your stock studs are only going to last you so long until something blows because the studs arent meant for boosting. Either way the choice is still yours

but if I had to say my side GET THE STUDS and dont half way do your turbo build!!!

The cylinder head is held on by bolts from the factory. This is why they fail. The pressure from the cylinders pushes up on the head and the head of the bolt is absorbing all this force. All the pressure on the head of the bolts makes for easy failure in the right circumstances. Switching to studs moves the upward force on the cylinder head to the entire stud by way of the nut securing the head to the block. This change of how the force is held makes a world of difference. Evos also come with bolts from the factory, but theirs are much, much stronger than the factory Lancer bolts.

I can although not recommended change the studs without removing the head by removing and installing one by one making sure to clean out each hole before installing each stud.

try this:
https://www.rtmracing.com/xcart/prod...5&cat=0&page=3

6-bolt 4G63 = 12mm
