2009+ RA snorkel

Hey, i am just curious. Have been talking to a few people and they said that i can put a RA snorkel in place of my stock snorkel, and add a drop in K&N and get a decent increase in airflow without dropping 400 on a CAI, anybody have any input??

yes u can but the snorkel isnt going to help cause they are both the same, get a high flow air filter- K&N, Works, HKS, Cosworth.

the ralliart snorkel is actually quite a bit larger. and as for any aftermarket i can't afford. the snorkel and a drop in k&n is a quarter of the price of a CAI or SRI

Ive heard it does add a small amount of response and you do hear a small change because it does increase the flow of air to the engine but in the long run it wont be much of a change from your normal stock intake so its worth getting a sri or a cai just save up the pennys

honestly wit both type of induction SRI and CAI you wont feel the much difference in response with comparison to the stock except the sound of SRI lol....for sure it increases air flow maybe gain a few hp but it nothing really noticeable.... i think ur better off getting a sprint booster...way way better

You're not going to get noticable gains from any intake. Anyone who says otherwise are either mistaking the increased noise as power or just wishful thinkers lol. You can get maybe 1-5 hp by increasing air flow so if u can do it cheap why not. As for SRIs, at least they sound cool. And a CAI has shown to increase gas milage for a lot of people. But if you're looking for noticable gains don't bother lol.

If you want to play it smart just get a k&n drop in filter and call it a day. Most cost effective option for a non turbocharged vehicle. Instead of spending $150-400 on a sri or cai send $40 on the drop in and use the rest towards this insane rise in gas prices lol. But honestly, unless your running a twin scroll turbo a cai or sri is unnecessary performance wise. If you "feel" gains, its most likely all in your mind because your intoxicated from the louder intake sound. Even on the ralliart the drop in filter is good for the first 350hp.

And for those who don't know, I must repeat this to warn you. If you MUST have a sri or cai on your daily driver, go sri. Cai go deep to the bottom of the car and takes much needed cold air from the radiator, but even worse it sucks up water off the ground extremely easily. This is bad because the water will infiltrate your motor and destroy it fairly quick. Don't pay $300-400 just to destroy your $15000-20000 car because you want to "feel" performance. On lancers (all models), a cai is recommended for track use only. I have heard here in dallas and read lots of stories about water burning holes straight through the motor from cai.

simota's CAI offers great sound and gain, its insulated and utilises the OE snorkel. many of our lancer owners here in the UAE are installing it.

I just bought my first mitsubishi, and im new to alot of this. might be a stupid question... but i can not find a "Ralliart Snorkel" to purchase. i want to buy that and a k&n drop in. from your post sounds like i dont need a SRI or CAI. im not looking to race my car just want a lil boost in performance and for it to look and sound good. also would the greddy RS exhaust be a good choice? not trying to break my wallet but a good bang for the buck?
