Engine build question
So, in my last post I was asking if anyone knew if anyone had done an EVO X swap into an 02 OZ yet. But I also mentioned the idea of building my current 94. Now, my question is this, since my current engine has 169K miles on it, does anyone think it's a bad idea for me to build it since I plan on replacing everything except the block? I was thinking of getting a new one to do my build but if I don't need to spend the money, I won't.

mileage doesnt matter.. even if u stick to standard bore. get the block; deckd, honed(for ur piston size), and vac/hotbathed.. and ur fine. also always a good idea to get the crank checked out and or balanced. at 169k miles the crank could have some scarring, so a micropolish or honing on the crank might be required to allow good fitment of the bearings.
pistons, rods, headstuds, mainstuds, main bearings, rod bearing, decked, honed, cleaned, assembled, new headgasket, waterpump, timing belt kit.. Done.
always wait on purchasing bearings untill ur machine shop tells u std size of oversized. Or just let them take care of matching those parts properly
Any machine shop can also rebuild the head for rather cheap(normally less then 200) so basically a brand new head also for rather cheap..
If ur KNOWNLEDABLE and know what ur doing, assemble it all urself(only saving urself 300-400$).. if not.. Let a experience machine shop handle it(its worth the few hundred for 2k+ in parts IMO).. Most engine machine shops have an assembly guy thats knows his stuff and everything will be right.

Oh, the only thing that will be staying in the car will be the block ha ha. Everything else will be brand new. I do have a huge plan. I've been trying to figure out exactly what I want to do with it for 5 years and I have a plan written out. Now I'm just waiting on monies to come in to start getting that parts.
