Not bad for 20 bucks......BUT it is missing some things. The actuator arm and actuator can for the internal wastegate is missing. This turbo also looks like it is oil cooled only. For the price of a rebulid and balance you might just wanted to purchase a used t25 for 100 bux. Then you wouldnt have to worry about the funky volvo flange where the o2 housing is..not to mention the mani flange. Plus a t25b is gonna be water and oil cooled. Going with a garret setup might just save you time and money seeing that these peices you can buy prefabbed and are easily available. Not trying to be negative just trying to help you out. How large is the turbo...itis hard to judge by the pic. There are some volvo's that carry turbo comparible to a 16g and the lancer would have trouble spooling something like that. Just an FYI for. Anyways good luck!!!

Thanks for the info.. Its a Garrett T3, it was on a volvo 740 tubro that was after 88 or 89, when they switched from the mitsubishi made TD05... and i do have the wastegate actuator, its just not in the picture. I do like the idea of the t25b... but i wanted to do something not many people have done yet.

Yeah I understand the point of going original...nuthin wrong with that! I think you may have it backwards tho...I believe, but could be wrong, that Volvo went with the Mitsu turbos over the Garrets for a quicker spool up. The volvos originaly cam equiped with the larger Garrets but THEN switched to the mitsus...
I Also still believe that..especially since you say this IS an older Garret it is deffinately oil cooled. You are going to have to be very careful (much more so than a newer "style" water/oil cooled turbos) when shutting down. These are the turbo's that are known to coke very easily. They get substantionly hotter (also raising air temps) than a water/oil cooled turbo....and therefore are much more prone to rebuilds than a newer style turbo would be. So even from normal every day driving you WILL have to rebuild that in itself would be my deturrent. So remember this stuff if you do choose to go this route. Also remember these oil cooled turbos are also known to glow red hot (literally) even on the "cold side" andunder the hood....(air/water will on the hot side still) think about your temps.... Just a little more FYI for ya
