You get what you pay for.....

You get a cheap setup, your going to pay heavily later. Cars are complex mechanical systems, and they dont respond well to thown together parts.....

To answer your question, I would think a turbo setup would be cheaper than a supercharger, although both systems would kill your car if done improperly......

well RRM's IC Setup is $4k and it states 230whp(even though i dont know any lancers with just that pushing 230whp)

RIPPMODS supercharger is pushing 208whp, and thats w/out the bigger injectors which were limiting there boost...so they added bigger injectors and upped the boost so we are awaiting results...that cost $3699.99 WITH the methanol/water injection(which they said added 30whp) and its $3199 or around that w/out the methanol/water injection.

my suggestion....find some guys that KNOW there **** on turbochargers or superchargers..and go CUSTOM..its WAY cheaper, talkin $2k and u can be spoolin' at 6psi no sweat....or u can spend more up to u

I haerd that going custom can cost more in the long run? Not sure why but just heard.

I would go supercharger - if you check out www.midwestlancers.com/forums they have a huge talk about the super charger and they state that ** the people from RIPP ** or one of their spokesmen talks about how a supercharger if done right doesnt need as much maintince long run or in general as a turbo does. also i think if your just doing everyday things, and want to kill punks (hondas) off the line at a red line get a super charger, that way you get your boost real fast, no waiting.

Custom COULD be more if you DO MORE with it.

It's as expensive as you make it.

well heres the funny thing between turbochargers/superchargers

turbocharger starts spooling at like 2.3kish...and is at full boost around 3.2k or even sooner once u get some free flowing exhaust and yeah...a supercharger is running boost the WHOLE time....BUT...dun dun dun

turbocharger is running 100% boost at 3.2k rpms *not all..just a general one im describing*

supercharger is running 10% at 1-2k, 35% at 2-3k, 60% at 3-4k, 80% at 4-5k, than 100% at 5k+

..so THERE you have it..yes u get the power faster, but u don't get it all right away, a supercharger is compared to having a bigger engine....i dont have a preference...but i DOUBT you'll get a cheap supercharger...they just seem more complicated than a turbocharger because of the belt/pulleys etc...but i might be wrong, but i've never heard of 'custom supercharger'

hell...turbocharger all u need is the turbocharger(t-25 off an eclipse) than the 2g turbo eclipse fuel pump, the eclipse Blow Off valve, a rising rate fuel pressure regulator, some piping, an EGT Gauge, Fuel Pressure Gauge, Boost Gauge, and a few other small pieces and ur boosting...u can spend as little as 1.5-2k....a little more than a set of nice 18" wheels to be boosting...at a low 5-6k but ur boosting ..... but if u got a brother that can do custom piping and get u some stuff free....than u can spend less

how much maintence does a turbo charger really need, oil changes every 3,000 miles (normal) and MAYBE you would want to take the turbo off after awhile just to see if everything inside is ok, clean it up a bit, but that doesnt need to be done a lot

Spool time really depends upon manifold design and the turbine/compressor/housing you choose.

But about custom is if you make one mistake then its your fault if you buy it then its their fault.
