turbo for U.S. Lancer

Being a front wheel drive car, is it safe to put in a powerful turbo kit into the U.S. Lancer?

of course. as long as you build the car to compensate. they have had 1000hp fwd celica's on super street. a b16a engine swap into a civic, is more dangerous than turboing our car.

tires are a start....nice grippy ones...

RRM is also the seller of a Limited Slip Differential....which would warrant MUCH better grippage

Ok, I'm gonna have to step up and be the dick. If you're gonna have enough time to do FI on your lancer, you're gonna have to take the time to do a little research. Seriously. Use the search button. There's a whole forum dedicated to just engine and drivetrain.

Good luck.

ok that kit will not produce 280, or 250, hell it'll be a fun time trying to get over 210. I think they are shootin waaaay too high with those numbers.

You should really use the search button like engineerboy said, seriously, there's so much info out there like you woulnd't believe. Good luck with everything though!

Ok, I retract some of my previous statement. Flat Lander Racing get's big ups for what they've done with mitsu in the past. I haven't seen much but it's been impressive. If I go FI it will be their t25BB extreme kit. More power AND I have enough saved (compared to the RRM turbo) to get it installed if I'm feelin' lazy.

But, there's a LONG thread on this turbo in the FI forum

Bobaab- Sure, no one's gonna make those numbers. BUt then who's making the RRM 230WHP I think Boe MIGHT be, and a couple guys were saying after some tweak they'd get about 210. So if 230 RRM WHP=210 real life WHP then hopefully 250 FLR WHP= at least 220real life WHP.

I wouldn't touch that kit with a 10 foot pole. The great thing about RRM (although expensive) is they develope everything to be reliable. Word of the day = reliable.

petey- the basic kit doesn't come with a BOV. The extreme kit comes with MORE than the RRM kit. AND The 1.8L lancer is the car that graces the rest of the world. Here it was called the Mirage (well, the engines are the same IIRR). They get MAD boost because the heads and walls are so much stronger than out almost overbored 1.998L engines

right, but Boe's got other mods to go along with his RRM kit, this kit is basically like the RRM kit, there's really nothing that'll put it above other kits..so Im talking realistic here, with just that turbo kit bolted on.

that's my point. Boe got tons of extras and all the guys at RRM working on his car. The guys that are making 210 (I think liquidlancer is one of 'em) have still put LOTS of extras into their cars. Most guys are getting about 170WHP out of the turbo. Which is about a 60-68 WHP increase over stock (depends on who you talk to)
I give the ball bearing turbo the edge over the standard sleeve bearing turbo anyday. BBs are extremely low friction and spool much faster.

Maybe I'm missing what you're trying to say. . .
