The RRM turbo kit is kinda expensive, so you might be better off going with a Ralliart turbo kit. It's supposedly a direct bolt-on to the 4B12.

The auto tranny aka CVT doesn't take to kindly to turbos. you can do it but you would need to run a very conservative amount of boost like 5-8 psi, and even then you still have to worry about a possible tranny failure. The lancer's cvt is a finicky tranny that doesn't like the added stress and heat produced by sudden spikes in TQ. I had to get the cvt replaced twice on my pretty much stock 09 lancer before i got rid of it. Barely had 78k miles on it.

Wouldn't recommend turboing a lancer with a cvt unless you live somewhere in cali where RRM is based and have them do the install. They say they have a few turboed cvts running about with no problems, so apparently they're doing something right. They don't really give a lot of proof other than their word and their customers seem to shy away from any forum spot light. Calilancers swear by them the last time i checked

As for the 2.4L you have, there are some issues that'll need to be addressed with the stock compression ratio that makes it more prone to fail. not too keen on the details though. RRM also mentioned on Calilancers that the 2.4 produced too much power for the cvt to handle and it failed.

I'm in the process of doing this, do your homework...there is alot of stuff to consider.

1-Transmission is a weak point. I'm installing a better externall cooler and possibly evo x radiator, since it the coolant that plugs into the cooler/warmer. Want to keep the tranny fluid to the coolest I can.

2-I have the 4b11...your has more compression...You wont be able to use the same boost levels...on stock internals. Some guy have used srt-4 pistons with custom rods....But didnt see it myself.

3-Do you have someone tu tune it properly...

4-The rrm kit is an option,

5-built you own....evo x or RA but stick to the parts you started with..evo with evo...OR RA with RA....manifold might need to be ported...

Anyway...putting mine in this summer...will let you know!

tell you the truth, best to not go turbo..reason
why spend the money on turboing your car when it it isn't meant to run turbo, even after all the parts you bought for it to make it run turbo, you could have just save that and trade in you lancer for a evox. But if you have already decided you want to go turbo, you would need the whole railliart turbo system; piping, intercooler, turbo, header, turbo exhasut...and those are just the basic..your gonna have to flash your ecu or get a ralliart/evo x ecu and flash that too, just everything would run right. Here is a list that I got from 9glancer on a basic turbo set up...its not cheap and its going to take time.

TURBO MANIFOLDS & O2 HOUSINGS
Ralliart turbo exhaust manifold: mitsubishi factory part $411
Ralliart o2 housing mitsubishi factory part $ 180

INTERCOOLER PIPIING
agp intercooler piping evo x. $350 stock bov flange

INTAKES
apexi power intake for evo x $160

INTERCOOLER
ebay intercooler ONLY $150

DOWNPIPES
downpipe will need to be custom $175+

INJECTORS
Injectors high impendence only $150-$300 stock evo's are fine

FUEL PUMPS
fuel pump stock evo x $150 ebay

BLOW OFF VALVES
bov hks ssqv $150

TURBO'S
tdo4hl 13t turbo $300+
tdo4l wrx turbo $300+
td05 16g big or small $500+
td06 20g $500+

HOSES
braided stainless hose varies in price $???

FITTINGS
AN fitting varies in price $???

PIGGY BACKS & PROGRAMMERS
RRM programmable piggy back $420
apexi safcII $400 new used much cheaper
evoscan/ tactrix programming software $190
evo x ecu $250 used

WIDEBANDS
wideband o2 sensor: aem uego $222
wideband o2 sensor: zeitronix $279

GAUGES
gauges: boost, exhaust gas temp minimue: $50-$200

BOOST CONTROLLERS
boost controller manual preferred $25-100

SPARK PLUGS

mn08, good point. $3973, almost $4K. Now almost every car on the road is NA. But companies make those exceptions like Mitsubishi, Nissan and Toyota. But even some of those cars are NA that can be turbo'd and have been for years. In this day most cars are ecu dependant, unlike older cars. So the application is more practical now than before, because like any computer you can overclock it with the right parts. So you can do for almost any car with the right parts. RRM has their kit for $4399. Only thing not included is fuel injectors which can be bought anywhere. To me that is a gread deal comparing to running around on ebay looking for parts.

RRM actualy come with a 5th injector setup + piggy back engine management system...

If you use evo x or RA turbo setup, for a manual lancer, you can build one for alot less. 2500$ you can have a descent setup, and just flash evo x ROM (free) and a tune....

Smile Almost there

Thanks man. I'll be getting the RRM turbo soon. I have a co-worker who wants to sell his EVOX parts to me but hasn't given me a price so I'm going with the RRM. Plus RRM takes half the payment up front to start the system then the other half on completion.

I think its a little expensive (what can you expect..there the only one doing a kit...) BUT I heard good things by the people who had them. The 5th injectore setup, even though unusual, and the piggyback seems to work fine.

Good luck to you!!!!
