08GTS intake question

Lets start off by saying Hello Guys im new to the threads, finally got the ability to post and ask my question so here it is. i have an 08 GTS (w/ tiptronics); i know QQ i couldn't find a manu anywhere. either way i wanna put a SRI on it, but with searching AM parts for the year the intakes say they will provide about 7hp gain, now the 09 model which i know has the bigger 2.4 engine their intakes say they should add between 15-20 hp gain. now i was wondering because the actual size of the intakes look to be almost the same, if im able to buy the 09 intake and use that on my 08, has anyone tried to test this or done this? and if you know any answers to this question please discuss.

I know this is an old thread, so sorry for replying more than a year later. I always wondered why people put SRIs in their car instead of just putting in a CAI? I have the same car and was planning on putting in a CAI. Did you end up putting in the SRI? What were your gains?

when it comes to NA lancers, it doesn't really matter if you get SRI or CAI. They both put out about the same numbers but in slightly different rev ranges. Most of the time they don't even get advertised gains. A tune afterwards helps.

Most guys opt for the SRI to mitigate the chance of hydro-lock.

To answer the question: You'd be getting bigger gains on an 09+ GTS. The engine is 0.4L bigger and can therefore suck more air into it. This results in more combustion and greater power. The 09+ intakes ARE compatible with the 08 GTS and below. However, you won't get as much of a gain because it has a smaller engine.

Sorry for late reply. Ok that's what I was wondering, since they did upgrade their engine to be the 2.4L. Makes sense, so in the end it's just going to throw the same gains as the regualr 08 intake. sounds good mayte!

Been away for a bit, I'am waiting to all warranties are out of date before I do installs, only because I want to remod the whole car and would like to do as much at one time as I can instead of little turtle moves. Also I wanna go SRI, yes for Hydro avoidance and I'm not going to turbo the car so why go through all that trouble when I can do a 5min change.
