It isn't necessary. It actually doesn't take all that much but it could sqeeze out a few extra ponies if you did do it. Most aftermarket pistons and rods come weighed... you can look at them and see how close they are to eachother. They are usually within a half a gram which is better than most stock setups.

intercooled kit-- 4k
stage 2-- 1200
header-- 369
test pipe-- 69
axle back exhaust-- 269
tb-- 289
intake manifold-- 349
total-- 6545
usually most have their exhaust done so they may just need the test pipe. Most have the header as well... this is just an overall cost of what was on the car performance wise. Take out the intake manifold and throttle body you'll lose maybe 10-15hp and 600+ from that price tag.
At about 5900 total investment... lets just say it is faster than any other kit out there. My best was a 13.2 at 110mph. The best//fastest US time belongs to RRM with a 12.9 @107mph! No other kit or custom setup has been able to beat that... most can't even get into the 13's.

There is a little more science to it than that but it can be done. As for the install figure on 3 hours. It is not difficult but it is in the back of the engine and therefore you will have an achey back when you get done.

intake manifold is not hard, just time consuming. it took me and a buddy about 6 hours working on and off with basic tools and trips to the store and phone calls to road//race. its worth it though, especially if your going turbo. basically, plan on unhooking everything attached to it, removing it, taking off fuel rail and injectors and everything attached, swapping over to new one, reinstalling, then plugging everything back in.

yeah i just pulled mine off the studs and tilted it down and pulled it out, it barely has enough room to come out but if you angle it right and use finess you can get it out without scratching all kinds of stuff up.

Well mines is done! So far so good! No problems at all!
Many thanks to Boe, Rob and Gabe over at RoadRace for all the help. Still in the "break in" period so not much boosting yet.....
