Turbo Kit Pledge Drive
Turbo Kit Pledge Drive
Hey guys - we all know there are some turbo kits out on the market that everyone trusts and wants, such as the RRM turbo kit. But what about those ones that noone has used before, but need to be tested out?
Well - i am willing to use some of my own money to try out this kit ** provided people put forth some of their own money as well **.
Together as a lancer family we can try out all these new kits and find out what they can do and how well they do it.
So - if your interested Please PM me with how much your willing to donate.
If everyone gives like 2-5$ that can really add it, but we need like all the lancer people to do it. I mean ca'mon guys, 2$ isnt that much money and it would be well worth it!
Also - I would not be going the intercooled kit b/c I am automatic and not sure if those fitting will fit on my car due to the transmission possibly being in the way - but either way, its still a kit to be tested out and we need to do it!
I just thought of some more information.
As for the money goes - I will not be asking for mony upfront because - well ikonw how most people think and would not like that. I will be asking for the money once i get the reminder of whats left over myself. As of right now i have about 650$ saved up so after a month i will easily have 1300$ so lets try and get 700$ - 1000$ which isnt too much if everone puts for a few dollars.
As for people not sure - WHy test of this kit and not the IC kit. Well #1 alot of people dont want to spend as much money as the intercooler kit cost, or we arent sure if the kit will even fit into the automatic lancer, and there are plenty automatic lancer people looking for a turbo kit right now.
#2 We should test both kits, intercooled and non-IC only because that way we have 2 options instead of just one as far as this companies turbo kits go. Why do the job only half assed, and by that i mean, why only test the one kit or the other and never know if both work or so forth, or the quality of both kits.
Thanks Guys & Gals.

if you are gonna put this kind of work into testing a kit, go intercooled. cause if you dont, people are gonna have something to say/ask about how you should have and how it would have been better. if you are doing a custom turbo kit, having an intercooler only requires more money and labor. ive got an auto and already have plans for the intercooler. RPW has an intercooled kit that fits the auto. you should also decide what kit you are going to do before you collect money, otherwise your going to be in a situation that our government is already in with our tax dollars. people will want to know what exactly their money is going to. definately a good idea though on getting some more info on other kits. i would highly suggest checking out RPW's intercooled kit that comes with injectors and all that jazz.
here it is.. http://www.turbo-kits.com/lancer_turbo_kits.html

lol... IILANCERII02... you jocked my idea... for pleding money for trying out turbo kits... well I have a 1000 or 2 to spend on a turbo kit... and if ne one wants to donate me some money i could get an intercooled kit... and I'ld get whatever people want me to test out.
well - we could do one Non-IC and on intercooled, i already called the non-intercooled one so u guys can fight over the intercooled one lol.
But lets not make this too off topic - lets just see if people wanna put in money and if not thats cool, but lets try and get some stuff figured out here.
also - if someone decides to do the IC one i will be willing to throw them 5$ towards there fund.

I sure hope not because ot be honest. . . im not sure if i wanna waste 2G of my own money to find out something doesnt work. Although i guess i would call before hand to check to see if it didnt work i could get my money back - and thus if i got my money back i would be sure to give people the appropriate money back for the money they put into the kit.
Honestly, I think someone with some tuning experience should try to slam together a kit with a true exhaust manifold. (Not like the RRM up pipe/downpipe solution) I also think the famed Disco Potato turbo needs to be part of the kit. (Garrett GT28RS Ball bearing turbo)
The biggest concern with any turbo kit on our cars though is tuning. We need a tuner that can be an expert with the engine, know the ins and outs, and provide a sure-fire tuning solution taylored to the kit. The lack of good tuning solutions would keep me from going forced induction in the future. (Although RRM may have a solution with their piggy back module, but that is only taylored to their kit)
So theres my wish list, if anyone cared...
To recap: Garrett GT28RS
True tubular exhaust manifold designed for turbo application
Proper tuning solution
As far as tuners are concerned, I know Shiv (of Vishnu) wrote a brief article about the Disco Potato a while back in SCC, perhaps he could be our answer once the kit could be pieced together.

well.... i was just looking around, and i decided to check out mirageforums.net. theres this guy in arizona... his names tim. anyways he makes turbo kits for all mirages 1.5, 1.8, etc etc. isnt the only difference between our motor and the 1.8 the fact that its 1 inch taller? several people have orderd kits from him, and are very happy. its speedfactordesign.com (i think the websites having problems though because it was newly re-designed). anyways he's selling stage 1 for $1999 which includes everything except the pipping and intercooler (comes with manifold, turbo, vortech fmu, fans, bosch blow off valve, etc etc). sounds pretty damn tempting. i tried calling him today, but i got their answering machine. i'm tempted to buy the 1.8L kit, and see if my buddy can make me a down pipe. then all i'll have to worry about is the pipping and intercooler. anyone wanna help me and find out more info?
well my buddy has a mechanic/custom shop. he does EVERYTHING except tints and bodywork. he's crazy as hell (in a good way). he can custom fabricate stuff too. i'm positive he can help with the downpipe and pipes. nothing crazy probably couple hundred 2 maybe 3 at the absolute max. he does excellent work. keep in mind no one makes pipes for our cars, except for rrm. thats the only bad thing
Alright - well i will go to that guys webpage and send him an e-mail, and if you do the same maybe we can work something out. Because ya if we can get the kit new for 2K and then pipes for 300$ thats like 2300$ for a brand new kit, which is what im willing to spend on a used RRM kit, so i would definatly be up for it, let me know!
