T-28 Turbo

Is ANY Garrett T-28 turbo compatible for putting on an OZ Lancer with all the other work being custom?

Sure, a T28 will work on a lancer, just need a TC mani. You'll be making HP figures around the Silvia S15, just w/o the BB.

i recommend the T-28 on the lancer, it works very well. if you can get the garrett BIG T-28, its got the oversized compressor wheel. its niiiiice.

Cool. The reason I ask is that I can pick up a used (about 20,000 miles) T28 for about $200.00. I'm going to have a local shop check it out for me but didn't want to waste my time if it wasn't going to work with it.

Since we're on the topic, the RRM kit comes with a T-28, while the other kits available come with T-25s and for some $$ be upgraded to the T-28. Can the T-28 be rebuilt and upgraded during the rebuild?

Actually RRM kit comes with the Big T-28... there is a difference between the T-28 and the Big T-28. It is a good comparison though as the T-25 is a good turbo if 200whp is your goal... much more than that and you'll max it out. The T-28 should get you about 225-240whp and the Big T-28 is capable of 300+whp. It's all about your goals and what your motor is built like.

Not sure if the t25 and t28 share the same flange. If they do, then it's a matter of pulling out one turbo and swapping in the other. If not you'll need to get a new flange or an adaptor plate welded onto the manifold first then you stick the new turbo on.

I believe they have the same flange and also depends on which way the outlet side of the compressor faces if you have to do any modifications to your piping. Most turbo's outlets faces the driver's side, RRM modifies theirs for the intercooled setup to the passenger side for the intercooler.
