Decent sub for an alpine CDA 9827
i am going to be running 3 10w7s in my lancer with the, i think, zr series compnents. i am going to be running the components on the jl 450/4 amp and the subs on the jl 1000/1 amp. the two amps are exactly the same size and everything so it keeps a symmetry in my setup. not sure if i want to run pioneer or panasonic head unit though. i have a sony right now but need a new one that will play dvd. any suggestions on that would be nice.
sounds like a nice system sleek may want to think about adding a 2nd 1000/1 amp because those W7's usually run best off 1000 watts each. I also have 3 10" JL subs in my trunk and I love them. I'm also running JL amps for my subs and speakers so yea. I would go with Eclipse for a head unit. Eclipse has the best sound and signal anywhere. Most of their nicer decks come with a true 8 volt preout instead of 2-4 volt like the pansonic and pioneer. (even if they are rated at 5 their RMS is usually 2-3) Eclipse also reads ALL the info on the disk not 3 of 5 bits like the other brands you mentioned so if you want quality sound go with Eclipse.
thanks sentinal. i may have to downgrade on the subs if the 1000/1 wont push them. i have a very strict guideline that i have to stay in for a show vehicle. i cant really just have an extra amp laying around it wont look right. what subs will the 1000/1 push? i have never really been a fan of eclipse head units but i will have to check some out to see if any are what i want. does eclipse have a dvd player without a screen in their lineup??
Not sure about the DVD player w/out screen I'm sure you could find out on their site. Is the competition you are in for SPL or is it for SQ? that makes a big difference as far as which subs to get.
well i probably wont actually be entering any sound cometitions. i am actually trying to get my car finished so i can join the NCCA 2005 season. going to be doing head and tail light conversions, custom built body kit, custom built hood, custom built fenders and rear quarters, custom trunk area with spare tire holder and some other electronic goodies, tearing out the back seat and building custom stereo setup that ties into the center console area which will flow up into the dash, custom fiberglass dash, fiberglass door panels, and a few engine mods as well. oh yeah gonna do a candy red paint over a silver base and im going to spray the candy over the carbon fiber sections of my car, inside and out, so that the cf shoes through the candy. so hopefully i can get all this stuff going pretty soon so that i can get on the 2005 season.
well with 1000 watts the 3 W7's would be way under powered the W6's would be powered on the low end and the W3's would be powered with more than enough.
for sheer bass W7 > W6 > W3
for efficiency and sound quality its the oposite W3 > W6 > W7
there is also W0 subs but those are very entry level and if you were ganna front the bucks for 3 W7's (about 700 bucks a piece) your probably not interested in them
