Can I Do This?
Can I Do This?
i have 3 audioban awis10p 1500 rms each i am going to get 2 audiobahn amps but one amp at a time each amp is 2400 rms each theres gonan be like a 3 week delay untill i have both amps so im only gonna have one for now, anyway my question is can i bridge those 3 subs and use that amp? i dont want my amp to mess up or anything
The amp should be able to run stable at two ohms.
Your subs need to be 8 ohms. Then you could run all three in a parrallel circuit (bridge) Take the 8 ohm load of the sub/ the number of loads (subs) 8/3= 2.66 ohms. The amp would see a 2.66 load.
Most subs are only 4 ohms though. Then this set up would blow the amp 4/3 = 1.33 ohms, way to low unless you got a class D amp.
If they are dual voice coil subs. Wiring both voice coils in series will make each sub 8 ohms and then you could do this.
Let us know a little more about the subs and the amp.

like tward said, best bet right now is wire each sub's own coils in series to get an 8 ohm load (2+2+2+2) Then take the 3 subs and parrallel them to the amp and you should be running at 2.66 ohm. Although we havent gotten the subs down to one ohm, at 2.66 the bass will be cleaner and the amp wont run near as hot.
I would try this before even ordering the second amp, see if you like it. And then if you want more, I would suggest buying another sub or only running two. I think you would get more power by just adding or taking away a sub than buying another amp. You can make your amp much more efficient since it can run at 1 ohm. You always want to keep the subs in multiples of two: 2, 4, 8, 16. Precisely because you can be more efficient and have more options when wiiring. If you dont fully understand how to change the resistance levels (ohms) in you amp system let me know and I will post a quick math lesson. It is really simple.

i dont kno how big the amp fuse is but i will find out(i am not a professional at car audio my cousin is the one he has his own shop and everything im just tryin to get some feedback i just know enough to understand what you guys are talking about). and OZrally im gonna try what you said and see how it sounds at 2.66 ohm and see if im satified with it. I just want some heavy sql im not even looking for sq my mids and highs are nice as *** and give me alot of sq. i just didnt kno if one amp would satisfy me but i guess i'll just have to wait and see. I also didnt want to get 4 10's and 2 amps in my car i think that would be too much but you were saying i shouldnt do it with 2 amps and 3 subs cause of the wiring
anyways thanks for the help guys
anyways thanks for the help guys
yup, how would you power the subs evenly with two amps on three subs. One would be powered more than the others and carry a diff impedence, which might cause it to fire a little off from the others, which can cause them to cancel out eachother, that wont get you sql!
i might sell them for 2 12' audiobahn if your saying 3 isnt good for one amp, the 12's got like 2000 rms each i think, or what are some good subs with alot of sql, i just want deep bass and alot of it
No,no I didnt say three wont work on one amp. It is not optimal because the ohms are not divided up in the best way. I said that two amps running three subs would be bad. I think you have plenty of power either way you go with subs, you are going to have to be ready to drop serious cash for amp power to push them properly, which then will require several farads in capacitors, super heavy guage power wire. I would do what you decided first. If you dont like it, then swap it or add a amp AND sub.
another question OZ i can also get a precision power a1200 ppi amp i herd with this amp the more voltage you give it the more rms it would put out i kno somone who has that amp and pushes 2500 rms , if you or anyone has any suggestions on a good amp that can push those 3 subs let me kno...thanx
ppi amps are awesome amps. I dont understand what they mean by giving it more voltage. How would you give it more voltage? The car has a 12 volt battery. The best amp for you would be one that gives its max power at 2 ohms, not the one ohm one you were looking at. My suggestion, any quality amp that has enough power to push three subs at 2 ohms.
One thought, although you dont add volts, you can insure that you dont loose voltage. For example, if your headlights are dimming on the bass, the amps arent getting the power they need. First thing, get capacitors, for a system like yours- Id suggest a 15 farad cap. ( i am only running 2 - 1 farad caps) Capacitors mount in the 12v power line and store an electric charge so the amps always have the power available when they need it, without trying to drain it from the whole car's electrical system. I have seen these added to systems with big improvements. Other things are: make sure your battery is in good condition, and you can have your alternator cheaply rebuilt so that it is charging 120 amps!
