well...it's installed...finally! i threw in the JL amp (e6450) on Easter Sunday, but it would seem that the amp is more of a boat anchor than anything. today i returned the amp to the shop and picked up a JL 350/4. i have 2 channels running my components and 2 channels bridged for the 6W0. i am truly speechless. i really don't need to add my Eclipse 10" in the trunk....but i'm going to anyway. i'll be picking up a JL 250/1 for it soon.

there is absolutely no dash vibration...it just sounds clean.

sorry...i don't have pics of the install itself b/c my camera wasn't around, but i'll try to pull the center console back out soon so i can get some pics of the enclosure installed.

one last note...i DON'T recommend this install to anyone b/c it was a pain in my a$$.

Talking New Pics

here are some pics of the enclosure installed. sorry, the pics kinda suck. the only thing left is to make a plate to fill in where the pocket on the lower dash used to be.

doesn't look bad at all, looks pretty clean, just need to put something in place of the empty place.

thanks fellas...i appreciate it. when you're sitting in the car, you can't see the box at all (which is a good thing b/c i still think it looks kinda rough). i'm going to make an abs plastic piece to fill in the pocket area...but i'm not sure what to put there. i was thinking possibly my indiglo gauge controls. ideas are welcome.

I'd say custom fit a baby wipe dispenser there cause when that bass hits, you're gonna need it. lol

That turned out very nice. Perfect clean install.. custom work is always nice to see. I can't believe nothing rattles. Good. I like it.

Nice. I don't think anyone would take notice of it when sitting in your car. Looks almost like its part of the car.

you could put the carbon fiber plate that rrm has there, maybe a piece of sound deadener behind it?

that's the fun part about it right now... "sub...what sub? look in the trunk...there's no sub"

it will be totally stealth when i finish the filler piece for the old pocket area.

thanks again for the kind words everybody...i appreciate it.

thanks Sass...it is approximately .16 cf, but i have it half stuffed (loosely) w/ polyfill which (i've heard) gives approximately a 10% boost in box size (or so the sub thinks). jl specs call for an enclosure in the .125 ~ .175 cf range, and based on the performance, i'd say i'm right in that upper area.

on a side note, i picked up my jl 250/1 monoblock today. i started on the rough design of the trunk earlier this week and hope to make more progress tomorrow. i'd like to start fiberglassing next weekend, but we'll see what happens.

Get the radio block off plate from an Evo RS. perfect fit.
