Get the radio block off plate from an Evo RS. perfect fit.
you're the man Mark! just a plastic piece i assume. if so, that'll save me some additional fabrication.

i did a quick search on the block off plate...now i have a question. since this plate covers the factory HU area, will it also cover the pocket area that i need to cover? if so, does anyone know the cost on this piece off hand, or have one to sell? << i guess that was two or three questions...sorry.

I'm looking at putting an ID8 in that same spot, and possibly a Treo SSi 18 in the trunk, with my DLS amps over it... things are still in the design phase, but they'll be interesting.

Crashed the '04, into an '05 on saturday, should be fun!!!

if you can pull off the 8 in the dash, you'll love it!!! i was debating whether i was going to go through with my plans for my 10" eclipse in my trunk b/c of how good the 6w0 sounds up front. keep me posted on your setup...sounds like it would be amazing. oh...by the way...hell yeah the 10 is going in my trunk!

if i can be of any assistance (with info about chopping up your dash) just pm me. good luck w/ your install.

Great job! I am always glad to see something custom going on especially when stealth is involved. Are you gonna go stealth on the trunk too?

thanks again everybody...i really appreciate it.

about the trunk...i had already started constructing the skeleton for the fiberglass enclosure, but i'm re-thinking it all now. i was hanging out w/ a couple of local lancer guys tonight...one of which is quite the auto-xer. we started talking about strut tower braces and my whole enclosure concept went out the window. back to the drawing board i guess.

this isn't much of an update, but i thought i'd post some pics anyway. i just filled in the pocket area with a piece of abs (since i'm trying to keep cost to a minimum). i'll be installing a digital volt meter and temp gauge (for the amps) in there soon.

also, i have most of my skeleton made for my trunk enclosure...i'll be fiberglassing soon!!! i think it's a very unique design...hopefully it will all turn out smooth.

Where'd you get that ABS plastic? I'm looking to do something where I can keep my gauges and still look stock. I'm figuring to put the radio in the pocket area where you currently have the ABS plastic, and then have the gauges where the radio would've been with the ABS plastic over them.

you're gonna laugh...i work at an IT shop, so we have lots of spare parts lying around. that is actually part of the bottom of an old keyboard. a decent car audio shop should be able to hook you up though.

omg that is the coolest thing ever!!!! 6 inch sub in the dash...omg!! i wanna do that... you should of had it the other way like the sub firing toward you and make it soo you can see the sub face... you know... but anyways thats sooo cool. should just leave it like that, no sub in the truck. when people in the car theyll be like, wow you got a sub then youll be like nope and then theyll be like lier and you show them your trunk.... no sub... wow that is soo awsome.

I give you props for doin that!!!!

thanks man! the reason i fired the sub down is...a sub typically sounds better firing off another surface instead of right at you. think of like in a trunk or hatchback...if you fire the sub(s) through the back seat it sounds ok, but if you fire them back into the trunk or hatch area, you get a much better low end response. the cool part of having the 10" in the trunk is, i can turn that sub on/off at the headunit. so if i just want a solid, realistic front stage i can kill the rear sub...but if i really want to bring the heat, i can use the rear sub as well. thanks again though.
