i really want the JL's w7 series of subs
they cost wayyyyyy too much though, but they sound amazing..but JL's make good subs, id go with any JL any day over Sony, MTX, companies like that.
if anyone has hook ups for getting JL's w7s cheap, let me know
even with that i probably wont be able to afford it still haha..i love being 16 and not having a job (sarcasm)

Admittedly i kno nothing about car audio stuff..so if this sounds dumb you'll have to excuse me...you can replace the speakers on the front doors w/regular round 6.5" ones even tho they're a different shape?

slightlyshady, there's only one shape to 6.5 inch speakers, they're a circle. the ones that are oblonge that you're most likely thinking about are 6x9 speakers and wont fit in 6.5 inch speaker slots.
i might've misinterpretted what u're sayin and if i am, just reply back

bob-i agree about jl subs. they're very good, but very expensive. in my opinion, just about any sub will do as long as it can take good power. the only time an average person is going to hear a sub sound bad is if they aren't getting enough CLEAN power. I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!! clean power is the most important thing in car audio. it's always better to overpower your speakers. they probably won't blow out. clipped signals are what causes the most damage (and is most often the culprit in a bad sounding system). turning the volume to maximum and hearing distortion doesn't mean your speakers suck....it probably means the amp is clipping. give them more power, and you won't need to turn the volume up as much.
this is probably why people notice a difference with a new HU. because it is putting out more power, you don't have to turn up the volume as much, meaning you have more headroom. HEADROOM IS THE KEY!!
