I was reading the specs on the new 2015 Evo and saw it comes with a 710-Watt Rockford-fosgate sound system with 9 speakers including subwoofer.

This peaked my interested because I thought they added two more speakers for the 2015 model. But then I checked my car specs and noticed my 2011 Evo MR also came with 9 speakers as well. Am I blind, I can only count 7 speakers including the subwoofer in the trunk. Where are my missing two speakers?

You're counting the tweeters by the side view mirrors right?

 

Yes, tweeters are two, two in front doors, two in rear doors, and subwoofer in the rear. I'm not sure where Mitsubishi came up with 9 speakers?

I think the rears are the (2) way variety. (Tweeters mounted inside them)

Above information is correct, however pay no attention to the 710 watt rating on the amp. Its 710 MAX, meaning about 300-350 rms. MAX wattage ratings are a joke.

 

and even then, only if lighting hits your car while it's playing.

 

psh you guys complain about the sound system in the evo - my 2013 STi was many many degrees worse! I think the RF system is great lol

 

The mid 2000's base model Sti didn't even come with a radio if memory serves correctly. It was an option.
