i was riding in my mom's minivan and noticed the temp/direction lcd she has up on the reading light/sunglass storage thing. do you think that's tied into the computer on her car or are those things portable between cars?

i'm thinking for the little digital clock on our dash that i don't need and really don't want......

one would think that the LCD is just that, a display. there must be a compass somewhere else that the LCD is displaying. i dont have a clue tho.

 

THAT IS A GREAT IDEA...NOT SURE IF IT WOULD WORK...BUT A GOOD IDEA ALL THE SAME...

I don't know why you say it isn't possible. With a little work anything is possible. All you'd have to do is either find a radar detector that you liked that closely matched the dimensions of the clock, or make a little custom FG peice to go in there. Doesn't seem all that hard.

 

I'd be afraid of interference if I put my detector in the dash.

then take it apart and mount the sensors somewhere else.
