Depends if you want a good sound or to wake everyone on the block. If that is the case yeah get two 12's but I have 2 tens and it's more then enough i keep it turned all the way down.

I would suggest getting a new one, but it may be possible.

you probably can't port your sealed box. ported box volumes are larger than sealed. ports just help to relieve the air pressure inside the box so that the sub isn't fighting against itself each time it pumps. you have to make a specific size box and port for your particular subwoofer.

and a little tidbit. although it may sound louder, in actuality you gain 3db when you double surface area. so if you have 1 12" sub, getting 2 would add 3db, which is doubling the intensity, but your ear detects 10db as double loudness (since it is a logarithmic scale). the trick with this though is that 2 12" subs can take more power than 1 12" sub, so that's where you gain the loudness.

as for the difference between 1 10" sub, 1 12" sub, and 1 15" sub...you may be able to tell the difference between the 10" and the 15", but the 10" and the 12" (at equal power) will sound pretty similar. basically, if you want louder bass, you need to add power, not speakers. getting 1 very efficient 12" sub that can handle 500 watts is going to be louder than getting 2 12" subs that can only handle 200 watts each.

It depends on how you like your music and your hearing. I have one 10, and if you run it right, with some crossovers and such, it will sound nice and clean, but won't **** me off when you drive by at night.

D

If its too loud... I smile knowing you'll be deaf soon.

hm...

the high output-bandpass by JL is pretty nice. the new 12"w3v2 sounds clean. if you wanna spend more money get the w7. that's more than enough to rattle, but if you don't mind ratteling, shoot, get two w7's ;-)

i for one can't stand ratteling.

if you want just some mild sound to satisfy you in the car, go with one 15"....if you want to disturb the peace, go with two 12"s.....im packin two 10" pioneers off a lousy legacy amp, and my trunk rumbles, my bumpers rumble, my doors rumble.....go for it dawg

again....size of speaker doesn't make that much of a difference. it's about the power you put to it. you can make on 15" sound much louder than 2 12", if the 15 takes 500 watts, and the 2 12s only take 200 watts....the 15 is gonna be louder.

the key to getting a good sound out of your system is the amp. don't cheap out on the amp, and make sure that it can give enough power to the speaker. 1 12" sub (if that's what your taste prefers) will sound fine, especially if it was good enough in your old car.

Lets give Cup a round of gunshots for a perfect answer

Usually size matters in "tightness" of bass. From 10" to 15" tight - sloppy. If you like rock and jazz you don't want a 15" lugging around, especially if you want to keep your trunk. Usually 15's require 2.5 - 3.5 cubic feet per sub!

To second cup, one sub running more power will sound great. Bass is not "directional' sound any way. You also can't hear bass in "stereo" so one sub powered right will do justice.

Just figure out the sound you want first.... Tight rock 10, great all around 12, or a shake what yo mama gave ya 15.....
