Neon Accent In Sub Box
Hey I want to put a neon tube in my sub box, it has a plexy glass back, but i only want the light to come on either when i open the trunk, i.e. when the trunk light comes on, or when when the amp is turned, i havent decided which one, is there a way to hook this up, fairly easily, and i do have an amp in the trunk to connect power to
well....since your amp should be on whenever your radio (or accessory power) is on, not sure this is a good option. you could connect it to the same power for the amp (remote turn on wire, not main power wire), and use a switch to turn it on or off (mount the swith up front somewhere). or you can try and find out where the trunk light wire is, and tap into that. but if you want it to come on when you open the trunk, obviously you'd want to disconnect the trunk light bulb, otherwise it'll look stupid, no?
another option (which i'm thinking of doing), is to get sound activated neon. i might get one of those tubes, mount it under the rear deck, and connect it to a switch somewhere. that way it only turns on when i want, which would only be to show off the system. if you're good with electrical, you could figure out a way that if the neon tube is on, the trunk light turns off, and vice versa. would make for an interesting project.....hmmm.....

I think your best bet will be to hook a switch up directly to the neon...Its really easy once you have the switch. I agree with the guy before...ur amp is on when ur cd player is on well unless you have a switch for ur amp.....if you want directions to hook up the switch thing just post back.
Question: Why would you want the neon on when the amp turns on?
Since it is in your trunk, there is really no point.
Install a mini relay ($20) and tap into the positive lead (I think black with orange tracer) to flip the relay on when the trunk opens. Very easy DIY....
