Ran into a snag
Alright heres my problem, my gauge dimmer dial doesn't work. So I took it into the dealership to get it fixed and was told the part would need to be ordered. So a few weeks later I go back and they attempt to fix the problem. I find out that apparently the aftermarket stereo is causing the problem. It seems as though the guy who installed it (I had it professionally done) spliced some wires, even though I paid for the wiring harness and now the gauges are receiving a constant supply of power. To test this they even removed the switch all together and low and behold the gauges still stayed lit. So my question is what should I do? Should I go back to the install stop and get them to install my stock one and give me a refund (I got the extended warranty and by my standards this isn't a working unit), should I get them to reinstall it, or should I leave it and deal with it later when I go to sell the car?
Hmm.....I would have the install shop go back and fix what they messed up. See what they say. If they refuse, then have them uninstall it and again if they refuse - SUE! jp. I would think that any reputable shop would be willing to correct their mistakes. Be sure to explain to them what happened because of what they did. Good luck
I ran into the exact same issue when I first installed my HU. My remote wire was connected on the wrong one. I say fix it your-self and take the opportunity to learn more about your car.

Yeah I would fix it myself, but at the moment I have two other companies I can blame, either the installer or the dealer, I rather not risk making it worse and being left to dry.

How does installing a new HU affect the dimmer switch? What wire going to the stock deck is connected to the dimmer? Mine don't dim either but didnt realize it was cuz of the HU. Just thought LED's didn't dim. Do they? I put in blue LED's in the dash and they seem really dim so if I could fix some wiring and get the dimmer working again that'd be great. Who knows what wire needs to be where? The only wires from my harness going to my deck are +12v, +12v switched, and ground.

#12 is the one you have to look out for
Mistakes happen, nobody is 100% perfect. Reputable shops will have a warranty for their labour.
We, for example, give a lifetime warranty with all labour, as long as you own the car. I have no problem fixing my own mistake, and if it's the customer's issue I will be reasonable in charging for my time.

Same thing happened to me... I used that exact wiring diagram shown in this thread, and my dimmer doesnt work either. doesnt bother me... been that way 2 years, and no lights have gone out, except for the ash tray light :-)
