I didn't think that we could rig it up to do that since the trunk release is cable operated.... wouldn't you need to buy a "popper" or something to make that work (yes I know its not called that, but I don't know what to call it)?

No
There is not a option button on a stock lancer keyless fob. So your fob is most likely aftermarket.

I read somewhere that the window controls might be a possibility, but it sounded like an ton of work for something that is not very useful. I would leave it alone until you find a need for something to be controlled. That way, you always have the option.

i have the crimestopper rw900 and couldnt b happyer w/ it.. it has the remote starter, lock/unlock, and a trunk button that i have hooked up so when the car is remote started i can turn on the a/c. its also a two way pager so it lets you kno if it got the signal or not, plus it works on manual trannys

i went with the compustar 2WFM-AS 2-way pager alarm w/ remote start for cold days in winter...

i've had it for about 4 months...and all options are working perfectly...and the distance is great...can monitor your car in the middle of the mall and your car is parked all the way at the end of the mall.

You would need to add an electric motor to pop the trunk since they are cable controlled.
