Good luck on fabricating an enclosure for it though.... Personally i wouldn't go with an underseat enclosure because you will be nowhere near the airspace the subs perform their best at(forgot what its called). with an underseat enclosure you will prolly get at the most...1 cu ft. But good luck with it be sure to post pics when its done!!
but u have a VERY good point... if anything put 2 6.5"subs where the rear speakers r and get some 3-way components or something
personally, if u have fiberglass experience (sp), fiberglass under the whole seat and measure max height, and then figure out how much volume u have, if u dont have enough, get MORE creative... like try seeing how much volume u can have if u put the woofers in the kick panels or something.
A lot of 8s dont require more than .7 cuft. of enclosure volume(entire enclosure would take up less than .3cuft too). you just gotta do your homework.
What did you mean by a sub under the seat wouldn't sound as good as it would in the trunk? I would think it would sound better since you dont have the sound absorbing backseat sealing off the trunk from the cabin. It would also be closer to ther rest of the front speakers which would help it blend in.

it has something to do with the resonace. The reason why you don't face your subs towards the front when there in the trunk. Instead you face it towards the rear...
try putting your sub box in your back seat and listen to how clear the bass is. Then try putting it in your trunk and compare the difference. try it.

if u dont care about sound quality... then this is all four you... but u need a box to provide some type of acoustic sound for that crispyness.. sloppy bass='s Yuck.. but if it sounds good let us know! i'd like to save on trunk space as well

My box isnt comming out of where its sitting now. I tried every concievable placement in my old blazer when I had it and I know what you mean. BUT thats more about wave crests and troughs than clarity I think. Clarity would be improved by getting rid of barriers, but I haven't personally heard any "good" underseat setups so I can't really judge. I unno its late here on the east coast, my mind is going tonight : )

I have an awesome sub that I used in my 3G Eclipse but its Too Big to fit in my Evo IX. So I was kicking the idea of using two Alpine SWD-1600 Powered 6.5" Subwoofers, maybe twoKENWOOD KSC-SW1 Powered 6.5" Subwoofers, or even twoClarion SRV303 Powered 7" Subwoofers. One under each front seat should be enough.
