Best subs?
Best subs?
Hey everyone.......I'm finally gonna put a system in my car.....what are the best subs to get, for someone who doesn't want to pay a whole damn lot?
Even info about an amp would be good
ANY input would be greatly appreciated!!!

subs are not the important part of the system. concentrate on the amp.
JL is good, but i think people overrate them way too much. GOOD subs are eclipse and image dynamics. in lower price range i like infinity kappa perfect and audiobahn.

i second cup on that. check out www.justsubwoofers.com for a good selection and low prices. i'm partial to the perfect's as well, but if you are planning on getting them from best buy, rockford or pioneer would be the ones i'd go with. hey, i have a best buy gift card worth $60 i'll sell to you for like $45 if you want to use that at best buy. i'll have cash, and you'll save some dough. let me know.
cupONnj So If i hook up some pyramid subs to an arc amp it will knock right.
j/k
Im partial to Eclipse Aluminum subs myself. Used they shouldnt cost too much. Sounds to me that your kinda doing a budget system. Instead of subs just try one sub. its cheaper and that way you can spend more money on a quality amp. Which reminds me, a friend of mine has some new soundstream amps for sale. 1200 watts at 4 ohm bridged I believe. Price is around $150 but dont quote me on that. IM me and Ill give you his business # if your interested. He sells at almost wholesale cost(which is way lower than retail cost) so I dont think you can find a better deal for an amp.
edit. And what ever you do. dont let a shop install your stuff. Do it yourself. Its not that hard and it will sound way better cause you probably know just as much about stereo systems as they guys that install at shops. hardest thing is building a box. Heck if you got a day free you can take the three hour trip down to where I live and Ill install it for free. You just pay the price for materials.

How good your amp is doesn't matter if you can't power it properly. There are lots of parts key to making a good system. Set a goal before you build. Once you know what sound you want then ask for help.

Best subs, you've gotta consdier a few options
1. Price range.
2. Application, are you going for a street beater, some good sounds, a gigantic noise monster, what are you looking for?
3. How much room are you willing to devote?
4. How much power do you have?
On an unlimited power supply, with a huge budget, looking to cover all 3 apps, in a huge box. I'd head straight to the guys at Digital Designs, and pick up a pair of 9915's. Fed properly, they're monsterous subs.
For a slightly smaller budget, with a tad less power, and a slightly smaller box, I'd go Image Dynamics, Resonant Engineering, Blueprint, Trio, Adire, Onyx, or Kicker.
Further down the line in box size, power and price, I'd head to the folks at RF, Lightning (they're an RF product), JL, and some of the smaller cheaper subs by the above companies.
But, the answer really lies in the install. Don't buy nice subs and put them in a prefab box... that's one of the biggest mistakes you can make. Hell, I wouldn't even throw crappy subs in a prefab. With the little time, money and effort it takes to make a nice sealed box it behuves you to make it youself.
Again, to reiterate what 2wdSQL said, set a goal, then tell us what you're looking for so we can better inform.
