Best speakers?

I am trying to decide between these different speakers and wondering if I could get any suggestions from you all here...

Alpine SPS-170A
Polk db525
Boston Acoustics S55
Infinity Reference 5012i
Infinity Reference 6012si

Any ideas?

Ive had alot of experience with those infinity and alpine speakers....the alpines sounds GREAT and last long.

The infinitys....well they distort if you push them too loud and sound bad and also ive blown soooo many its ridiculous. I have 2 blown fronts at this very moment.

BA speakers are good quality, im sure they would be great as well but ive never heard them

id ont get why people ask questions like this on a forum. its reallu pointless, because then everyone start throwing in opinions and in the end its not really going to matter, and im sure this subject has been beaten to death.

you want good speakers? dont get the type-s go type-r(alpine), dont go reference for infinity go kappa perfects, other people will tell you MB quarts are nice and so are focals, i havent personally heard focals, but i liek the sound of the quarts, but hey you did ask for the best right?

Actually I was just curious which of the listed speakers you would personally buy if they were the only ones to choose from. You're right, in the end the decision will be mine, but it's always good to get other peoples opinions on a decision before you make it, don't you think?

Anyway thanks for your suggestions!

I really need to ditch my infinity speakers....they never sounded good in my corolla i dont get why i thought they would be good this time.

The Alpine Type-S are actually very good, i know the R's are better but the S is definately the best of what I've had.

I should look into the bostons as a replacement for mine

I have those alpines in my Sti and frankly I'm a little disappointed. I have Nakamichi's in my evo and I like them a lot. Sadly they're wasted cos the evo's exhaust is a lot louder than my subie.

Sadly, I can't just move the Alpines to my evo and the michi's to my sti cos the sti has the strangest speaker size fitments of all time...

Had Infinity ref's in my DC5 and they were on the better side of okay. Again, I eventually had an exhaust system with no silencer at all so couldn't really hear them by the time I sold the car. In fact, I probably wouldn't have know if I had blown them...

I've used Polks in the past...they were a little shallow for my personal taste. Of course, that was years ago...so I really don't have an opinion of current Polks.

I also used a BA's 6.2 Pro set years ago...VERY solid...VERY mid-bass heavy. Overall, I liked them.

Sorry to throw in other options, but.....
I am currently using Diamond Audio and I love them! You can find them for a very reasonable price on ebay (if you're comfortable with ebay). Prior to the Diamonds, I used MB Quart in several consecutive cars/trucks...loved them!

But yeah, of your list, I'd say Bostons.

Alright thanks a bunch. Now where is the best place to get speakers new? Other than ebay really... I mean a reputable place where I can get install instructions and warranty and all that? The only one I know is Crutchfield...
