What box and amp should I use

I know it is not the best but for the price it is a great deal. Getting the two audiobahn amps and sub for 50.00 bucks.

I am gonna pick up 2 audiobahn A2002T-200 rms bridged
One Polk audio sub single 4 ohm 175rms 400 max

http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/products/gnx104/ <~~~~link for sub

I already have a memphis 35.2 100 rms bridged.

So my question is should I use the A2002T amp on the polk sub and put it in a ported box or sealed box.

Or

Should I put the memphis amp on the sub in a ported box.

Did you ever hear of polishing a turd? Audiobahn chromes it, lights it blue and puts gauges to monitor the status of the turd. Memphis is probably a more reliable product and I bet there isn't a 1db difference between the 2 amps. I would probably use the Audiobahn on the sub and put the Memphis on the front speakers since it should sound better.

do a sealed box, you get alot more bass and you arnt gonna have much power running to it so you cant sacrifice any

put the memphis on the speakers and the audiobahn on the subs, so you wont notice any crapness :P

sorry bro wrong,

ported box = 3 db increase than sealed, only need 3/4 a power from amp, louder, more hard low end feel
sealed = just punchy bass, required full power to sub to get it loud

Boxes aren't magic. There are woofers that don't work well in ported boxes. There is A +3db gain in ported boxes over sealed that occurs below the rolloff of a sealed box. If a sealed box is built with the right volume it will be barely audible.

Ported is more efficient
Ported normally play lower
Ported boxes need more air space
Ported boxes can damage woofers because excursion is often beyond the mechanical limit of the speaker. A subsonic filter is a good idea.
Ported boxes have group delay (not as crisp)

Its all about the application. My enclosure analysis software looks at 42 speaker parameters to begin modeling an enclosure. Then you get the impedance curve, excursion curve, powerhandling, effiiciency, output to base your decision on which design is right for you. It is hard to wrong with sealed though.

yeah, they have recommendations on what kinda of boxes for each sub
i got a ported for mine and at loud bass it just popped, sealed box made it twice as loud
my sister has ported box hers sounds fine

you will be alot happier with a sealed box
